What's the point with that quite lackluster story in Endwalker?

They all went to their own separate discord they kept advertising here, where I assume they all talk about how much they hate Endwalker, Venat, the Scions, democracies in fiction, and cultures in fantasy that aren't inspired by medieval Europe.

There's only so much hatred for Venat to spare (I.E. everything that can be said about her, has been said about her, and that only flames up if a Redditor or other social media user kindles it). The focus nowadays is mostly on how lame FFXIV's become overall, but only in the designated, "Rag on FFXIV" chat. Most recently, just like this forum, many LOLs were had about the Graphical Update/Benchmark SNAFU. Beyond that there's a lot of laughs being had at overly modded characters and the like, and how Second Life-esque a lot of the XIV playerbase has become.

Some people do still play and there's a designated chat to talk about game mechanics and things too. It kind of turns into a tales from the duty finder sort of place at times, at other times it delves into liking/not liking certain dungeon designs or raid fight mechs and things. Or ludonarrative stuff around story events etc. Compare and contrasts of older FFXIV content with more recent FFXIV content.

They tend to talk about other MMOs plenty, other games too, and talk about releases they're looking forward too. There's a music sharing channel, and it confirms that their tastes are far reaching and multifaceted.

And they joke around a lot, and mostly have excellent senses of humor.

It's actually in my top 5 Discords that I bother to visit. And I'm in around 30.

I'm more toxic than any of them and I wasn't banned.

That kind of makes me wonder what Theodric said that got him banned. He never struck me as the type that was very toxic towards other forum members. His ban seemed to me like pure retaliation from someone at SE, as if his criticism of the game and the company was truly striking a nerve of someone high up on SE's totem pole.

The rules of who gets banned seems to be a bit arcane but I think that's a bit of a reach.

I don't think many players interact with or even look at the forums, and the devs don't seem to look in here much either if at all. No one really cares inside or outside SE about what happens here and places like twitter or reddit get much more engagement. I'd be really surprised if any poster at all in these forums caught the eye of anyone who works at SE whether it be for something good or bad let alone ban someone because of a perceived personal slight.

The medals underneath his name are all gone. He's been sent to the shadow realm. He was notorious for calling out the lack of engagement from community managers and moderators too.

That is actually surprisingly frustrating. Theodric was a good forum user and a very old player. He was also a person who actually cared about his WOL as an OC which I can really appreciate.

Idk, it kind of reeked to me like some user from the forum itself got elevated to a moderating or community position where they have access to the tools, and then Theo had a bad day where he got a little more snippy than he otherwise is, offering a pointed retort when directly insulted by someone else, and that was used as an excuse for a temp ban. Which was then elevated to a permanent one, after the temp one was never rescinded, even after its expiry date. There was a few days or maybe a week or so where he was supposed to be able to post again, but wasn't allowed to, in spite of his ban expiring and the permaban hadn't been given yet. Ban limbo.

I still don't understand why, fully, but the rules on this forum are arbitrary enough that pretty much everyone discussing this could be banned. I've probably got a stack of bannable posts from a few years back when stuff got super heated in Lore.

The optics were terrible at the time, because he was sharing screen caps of the Encyclopedia Eorzea 3 which had/has some stuff that does put a more negative light on Hydaelyn and her actions, and all of those posts got deleted at the same time, along with all posts quoting or referencing them. I don't think it was in this thread, and I can't remember which one it was in.

It was a bit absurd, as they weren't even related to the post he got in trouble for, either. At least as far as I recall.

I think I remember him posting them in the lore forum at one point, which is a bit of a tricky one. Citing sources fully and clearly is important, but I can see that SE mightn't want the EE3 content online in such a fashion. Still, if you can't talk about official material in the official forum, then what exactly is one to do?
