They're going to do an update on the Benchmark everyone! Hopefully this addresses some of our issues.

Seems to address most things except for the actual change to some models, like eyelashes and eyebrows. Hope they will address that too.https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...cf949ef43bf580

I don't really see it, there is nothing in his response which I could translate to something as obvious as quite obviously changed assets. At most the way the eyeliners interact with the lighting of the eyes perhaps, but not the eyeliner itself as a new model, as when you zoom in, it is quite clearly a new and different model. Nor do I see how this could be due to unimplemented high resolution textures, as they quite clearly high-fidelity models, but made to look different. Eyebrows are sometimes quite clearly different too, but seem more high-res than before, so it can't be an issue of unimplemented high resolution textures there either.

I don't know... Eyelashes aren't individually modelled, they're just a 3d plane that's heavily influenced by textures with transparency, more or less same goes for eyebrows. The model may deform a bit for the different options, but if the painted on brow is wrong then it'll obviously look wrong on all options, which seems to be the case from the comparisons. Should they correct the shape here it's more than likely that the 3d deformation will fall into place. It's best to wait and see but most common problems can be solved by changing textures. This does not account for the fangs, hair not being snugly fit and some nose shapes, but I doubt they'll ignore these either.I don't really see it, there is nothing in his response which I could translate to something as obvious as quite obviously changed assets. Same here, but I think it's too early to panic.

I was annoyed to see that, but I want to believe it's just because it's PR speak. After how much people have (reasonably) dragged them over their past remarks about how our character's won't feel changed, I would be very cautious in their position about overpromising anything. Let's hope "We will also continue to make adjustments which will incorporate as much of your feedback as possible into the revision of the benchmark, as well as the release version of Dawntrail" implies further adjustments to the face features to bring them in line with the live version.

It should have been pretty obvious that some of the issues were the character creator, why didn't they notice before they released the benchmark *shrug*https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...cf949ef43bf580

Like I said earlier and elsewhere, I'm sure some of these issues won't be in the game because the benchmark is just a subset of what is in the game to begin with, and you can go look at some of the ARR and HW era gear in the creator and clearly see those are low-quality textures. It'll just be a question of what still get's overlooked in the release build of the game.
But at least they addressed some of it.
