    Disclaimer, this comparison gets made every few months. Sometimes they compare it to Savage, sometimes to Ultimate, fundamentally the argument will be the same. I'll highlight the differences below. Simply put...
    • Raids - You are fighting together with other players against a scripted AI. The actual challenge will not change if you do it now or later, baring a few potency changes. You are also not competing against each other for anything aside of the World First race semi-officially held every raid tier and ultimate. You are in a challenge and get a reward.

    • Ranked PvP - You are fighting with other players against other players. The challenge is completely in flux with how good the players you play against are and can vary from season to season. You are quite literally competing against each other in the most direct sense of Player VS Player, meaning that there WILL be winners and there WILL be losers, which is necessary to determine who is the better player worthy of the trophy. You are in a competition and get a trophy.

    Now, I personally have given plenty of compromises we could have to give weaker players a chance at some of the designs available (including in this very thread), but the point is that PvP and Raiding could fundamentally not be any more different to how they grant high value items. Love it or hate it, but this is high level PVE vs PVP in a nutshell.

    TL;DR: Challenge + Reward in raids vs Competition + Trophy in pvp.

    That's entirely a moderation issue. We had to deal with this stuff early on in Crystalline Conflict too, where it took tons of evidence from multiple people over several weeks before they gave a slap to wrist suspension and rank removing to extremely obvious case.

    It's really weird contrast since GMs generally handle most cases in decent time frame and help people, but then there's some outliers like PvP where it seems they don't care at all.

    I'm not sure how it is on other DCs, but at least on Light the competition is fair. I guess it's because the amount of players is so low that the regular rankers mostly know each other and there aren't that many new faces joining in at the highest ranks.

    The thing with a "trophy" though is that it's generally less exciting than what it represents (the fact that you won the competition), and generally more or less the same design is given from one competition to the next. The prestige comes from having a trophy that says "Winner 2023" and another identical one that says "Winner 2024", not that each one is unique and special in its design.

    I think the frustration is that XIV's "unique prize every time" approach means that there was – perhaps still is, given the lack of second chances on recent gear – basically a constant conveyor belt of cool designs being invented (or existing cool things converted into mounts) and then immediately being rendered off-limits for anyone to be able to receive them ever again.

    Having a top 100 leaderboard that they couldn't even monitor with extremely limited rewards was always a really dumb idea. The fact that they kept shelling-out a unique gear set or mount every season really was only because they had to bribe people to care enough to tolerate their arena-style PvP mode. It usually catered to the mostly same group of people who could no-life requeue over and over at the start of the new season (which always coincided with a new large PvE patch dropping), where the queues died-off less than halfway into the new patch/season, making it impossible to climb, let alone get a match outside of maybe a specific timeframe. If their producer didn't actively play PvP from time to time they probably wouldn't have repeatedly stuck rewards in it to keep it on life-support.

    Having said that, I'm also of the opinion that those rewards shouldn't be anywhere near Wolf collars, Trophy crystals and Wolf marks; all 3 have been delegated to participation trophy rewards that even a bot auto-running into the middle of the map and dying over and over in Frontlines can "farm." It's nearly the equivalent of asking for current-tier Savage chest (not upgraded tomestone) gear to be buyable with tomestones. Maybe you can make an argument for any top 100 season to be trade-in to buy previous rewards, or even possibly a large quantity of Commendation Crystals (that requires you to actually win and climb to a higher rank to obtain). I know it sucks that many of the Feast ranking rewards feel essentially wasted on a small fraction of some characters that don't ever use them or even play XIV anymore, but they also have no business being bought with PVP's participation tomes that any "0 8 0" (that's K D A) player in Frontlines who never step foot in even CC can eventually get by getting last place every game. A "high number of wolf collars" doesn't mean much when there's hardly anything to buy with them and the PvP Series showers you with Trophy crystals; right now I'm capped on Trophy crystals, unable to receive the rank 30 reward (5,000 crystals) with double-digit stacks of the 1,000 crystal reward beyond rank 30 because there is nothing left worth spending marks, collars and crystals on- and I only play several FL games a day, like twice a week.

    So no, as much as I disliked the system of ranked rewards for their life-support "e-sport"(lol) arena PvP mode, they do not need to bring the old rewards back so every mindless fodder in Frontlines can have it eventually because you practically get as much rewards being in last place that you do for being in first place.

    They said it will come back and there is no more FOMO with series rewards, that we have now. But we haven't seen that yet. But going all the way back to Feast 3.x for rewards is a bit of a stretch imo.

    I would disagree with the "getting matches" part and having to no life queueing. It wasn't so bad as reddit myths made it. If you got Gold tier in the first months, you probably could have played till the end of season easily.
    The rewards were not that unique every season.

    Season 1 and 2 got 4 same skins
    Season 3 and 4 got 4 same mounts
    Season 5 and 6 got 2 same skins
    Season 7, 8 and 16 got 3 same mounts
    Season 9 and 10 got 2 same reskins
    Season 11, 12 and 17 got 3 same mounts
    Season 13 and Team Season got same 2 skins
    Season 14 and 15 same 2 mounts
    Season 18 and 19 same 2 skins - the only skin people really care about nowadays.
    Season 20 final mount

    So lets count, 5 glam sets and 5 mounts in like 6 or 7 years?!
    So less than 1 glam set and 1 mount per year.
    Seems kinda underwhelming to me, Island sanctuary seems to have more already.

    But yeah there is still a lack of currency drain for the new crystals and wolf collars, either they need to increase the cap or make items more expensive or add more items.

    You really can't go in any thread about this without slipping in stuff like "weaker players", can you? You insist on pretending you're having civil discussions with people while also talking down to and about everyone who isn't you. You could just say "people who didn't rank as high or have less interest in ranked PvP". That matters.

    ...and you can't go in one thread without having an issue with how I may have spoken in a previous post. Weaker, lower rank, less interested, what's the difference here other than you feeling like I am here trying to actively hurt people?

    I am here to offer solutions and nothing else. If people have to take everything I say to literal value, that's not my problem.

    You know very well what I said and meant in other threads and what my suggestions, so please be obsessive and overanalytical over a speech pattern of a person somewhere else.
