No, I'm not. I am well versed in what FF jobs and the job system are, and that should be pretty clear based off my statements thus far in this thread. I never said games like III, V, X-2, XI, and XIV do, or do not have job systems. You are trying to state that FFIX
does not have a job system. Sorry, but this is just wrong.
How a job system is structured can vary from one FF game to the next. It most certainly does not mean "you can change your job" specifically. That is just one of several ways the job system has been implemented in some FF games. The bare bones of it simply means jobs are present within the game, and a job is structured to have a certain set of abilities and skills tied to it. That is why I said games like VI, VII, and VIII
do not have job systems. At best characters have niche abilities/limit breaks that are based on the weapon they are using, which is exclusive to them. This is not enough to constitute an actual job, though.
To elaborate further, in a game like VII, every single character can learn restorative magic such as Cure. In a game like IX only Garnet and Eiko can use these abilities. Other types of curative skills such as White Wind do not count. Same concepts can be applied to other skills such as Climhazzard, Steal/Mug, Firaga/Blizzaga/Thundaga, Meteor, etc.
IOW, tl:dr? In order to "change your job" in the first place, what a job is has to be established in order to even be able to change to it.
