I 100% expected pictomancer to be the limited job when it was revealed - And I was waiting for your reply because I had actually written up a pretty in-depth response to you in further brainstorming on how beastmaster could work as a main job but how it also makes sense as a limited job; Not saying it can't be one or the other- clarifying that as someone else had gotten visibly confused in an earlier post - but we'll have to wait and see what beastmaster entails; I'd love to go on about beastmaster even with the very little interest I have in it at the moment.
As far as accessing the potential of beastmaster, in light of it being a limited job- I'm guessing with the direction DT is going to more group oriented content (thankfully) maybe it's something similar to summoner and their egi's. But instead of rotating through them to get each summons attack, it's something more in-line with blue mage and on how to get access to certain class abilities, you need to mimic a dps/tank/ or healer role.
But with beastmaster, you'd go into a fight with a pet that has healing specific abilities or a dps pet with dps only abilities, etc. but then it's not much different than blue mage and people would say 'it's just blue mage with a pet instead of our own monster ability.' I felt like a contradicted some things there, but maybe it's a combination of summoner and blue mage with some Warrior/berserker type abilities.
I'm trying to remember how Trainer(beastmaster) was in ffx-2 because honestly, I'm not familiar with how such a class works outside of what we see in other fantasy games with Rangers,( having a pet familiar )
In Guild Wars 1, you caught x pet and depending on how you took care of it, it would either grow into a dire-beast and visibly grew in size or it'd take on traits of being a aggressive, hearty, etc. which would then change how certain abilities worked and the pets damage. Dire/elder pet was the end goal though iirc.
With that being said, I'm also trying not to get this thread derailed from the main topic of concern- which was the lack of visual appeal with the in-game vfx pictomancer animations vs what was shown in the DT trailer with Krile.
I'm lowkey hoping pictomancer lb3 is the giant paint spriggan
