I get the feeling that if the dev team listened to most of the people in this thread it would turn into a shout for an hour or two to find a group kind of hellscape where only certain jobs with certain skill trees would be allowed to even join parties and if the devs changed something that made your job slightly unfavorable then you'd be barred from every group in every piece of content until you changed to the latest META.

It wouldn’t. And we know this because the game did actually exist before Shadowbringers, where the game actually did have more complex job elements, and the game was never that “hellscape” before.

We certainly avoided that hellscape by jumping into a devoid wasteland.

Everyone's play styles are different and this game should do a better job at accommodating as many as it can. My time is more limited these days than it was when I first started playing 11 years ago. Now when I play I treat it as a single player game. I rarely socialize in game and I just run duties and do story content. If I'm in forced content with players like a dungeon I treat them the same as NPC's and just play the game. Don't get me wrong if a sprout wants help I'll offer help them but my goal is just to do my task at the end of the day and log off.

They key here is that the existence of content like Bozja has never stopped players in positions like yours from enjoying the content that way. You still had your roulettes, housing, crafting and gathering, Gold Saucer, etc. content that can be approached in a very casual, "single player" way. Even Bozja itself... You could very easily log in, gain a rank or two without needing to engage with everyone else in the instance, and complete the Bozja story at a casual pace. And I think that's what you're implying in your first sentence?

Sage has failed to live up to the fantasy of a sci-fi DPS healer. Please change this for 8.0. Make Sage fast, exciting, and aggressive. It should feel like a healer that plays like a DPS. Empower the aspects of Sage's unique healing mechanics: Kardia and Eukrasia to give its healing playstyle more identity.

The time limited casual logging on to do a bunch of duties and log off again is not going to solo those instances in between the field exploration parts, if those instances even pop while they are on.

Hard disagree. You can, with very little effort, enter and complete those duties even now. I know this because It took me like a year to farm for the mount. Someone wanting to complete each of those once for the story is not in any way, shape, or form a time-consuming or challenging task. You can very easily relax in the instance and wait for it to pop while making yourself a snack, watching some youtube video, or something. I'd often just pop in, wait maybe 20 minutes max, and clear the instance.

A casual player might not do all of Bozja in a week, but they can certainly clear it over the span of a few weeks at a very relaxed pace.

So, you are sitting around in an instance twiddling your thumbs or doing not game stuff in hopes it pops in your limited gaming session and then solo Dalradia?

You're being uncharitable. There are many things you can do while waiting for something like Dalriada to pop, you know. Like play a different game--log into Genshin on your phone and do some dailies, play a little Solitaire, get started on a YouTube video you wanted to watch, or Netflix, or Disney Plus, put your laundry in the wash, do a little vacuuming... There are countless things you can do while waiting for Dalriada to pop in the span of maybe 20 minutes. And you only have to do it once if you're looking to complete the story.

People with limited time know how to take advantage of the time they have. Especially when, again, it's something that is one-and-done. And Bozja still holds value for casual players to use as a source of experience for other jobs, gathering lost actions to sell for gil, collecting other rewards from chests like dyes, glamour, etc. None of that demands a major time sink. You can do that in short bursts each day. If you don't see all that, then that's a "you" problem, not a game design problem or casual problem.

Eureka I will agree is not very realistic to see as appealing to both sides since the elemental level grind is far more time consuming and far more ruthless. While you can approach it the same way as Bozja, it's not a courteous system to a casual player. Which is why Bozja pivoted into making that story hurtle much faster and more simple to complete.

It might not have been a hellscape, but there's certainly a balancing act that stretches back all the way to XI. I remember DRG before the 2h buff. And when ToAU came out and half the mobs had reflect and the other half were imps, forget your BLM. As hard as they are trying to not be like that game, I think in many ways they wouldn't have a choice if they brought back meaningful skill trees\subjobs etc and we'll see it all over again. History repeats, and it's been made clear many times over they didn't learned much from their own.

It's a very valid concern, but for all its faults, I liked the formula we had in XI better.

There has to be some kind of happy medium between FFXI meripo meta and braindead 4 mans and other such content we have here. There just has to be.
