What do you mean? None of the characters in the entire game are "complete models" with clothes over the top; the body is always built into the clothing parts.

I don't know why she has the turban, but maybe her hairstyle is too detailed for the pre-upgrade graphics or something.

Well yes and no. I will try to explain it, but I am bad at explaining this kind of stuff, so please bear with me. And keep in mind that I don't work for SE so I don't have first-hand experience with their program, just what I have seen in some code.

The characters themselves are full models, they need that to create a complex animation R.I.G, but there are also separate duplicate pieces of each body part. These are used when creating clothes to have a better measurement of the particular item as well as follow the original structure so as to not look out of place. In the programming, when you equip a pair of pants, you aren't actually equipping the pants, but a whole new pair of legs (that is also why some glams look like they make your legs slightly smaller than normal.
And how do you change the parts? You give the body part the same coordinates as the original. A bit of coding and VFX tweaks and the transition becomes almost seamless.

Now that is the normal way of doing things from what I have seen. But when it comes to Wuk's body, it's a bit different. Her entire body uses the body of a different race. But instead of the normal proportion from said race her original body is being replaced by the pieces coupled to different articles of clothing, that is why she has a turban, to have a head. I believe the R.I.G used for her is that of a female Highlander, with just a few changed animations (but I am not sure, could be something else, don't know the codes by heart and it is not really important). So using that R.I.G as a base, they just had to equip the "New Gear" that came coupled with the body and head of Wuk.

    I hope that makes sense.

so apparently the only option that doesn't "stress the newbies" is either pressing 1211111111, or do nothing at all.

The race isn't in there yet so they've put the shape of it onto a different model, like Yugiri was introduced with a Miqo'te model but still had a visible Auri tail.

I'm also not sure why you're calling it a "R.I.G" when it's just a rig.

Haven't done a colour palette deep dive yet but I have some ideas in mind. Won't settle for anything before getting my hands on the Benchmark though.

What I do remember from the Hrothgar I already play is that very bright colours might clash with gear in an uncanny way. At least this was my impression when I tried to make him wine-red-ish, maybe a tad lighter. His fur is auburn-ish now. But who knows, might just be a skill issue on my part.

Yeah, but that is what I originally said, the model is there just dismembered. I was just explaining the process to make it make sense. Cause unlike with Yugiri where they changed just the tail, they had to accommodate for the head, since we knew how Wuk looked, so no need for mystery. They have paired the hands to the gloves, legs to the pants, head to the turban, etc. Then slapped it on an existing model in the same way you would equip normal equipment + add a tail.
As for the "R.I.G" spelling, that is just how I spell it, you can use both to get the message across.

Yes, exactly. They probably did it to save time and resources. They took an already programmed model instead of adding a new one.

Fair enough, I used to have a "Strawberry Vanilla" Hrothgar, I found out that darker colours seem to do well, but I had to stick a bit in either blacks, whites or reds. I guess my white boy was the easiest to glam, kind of like a blank canvas, but so was my grey and brown, very easy to glam with earthy tones. With my blue boy I had to stick to blues, whites and blacks. Ahhhhh! Why is it so hard?

    You bet I did!
After the second fanfest (iirc? :'>) we had so many interesting discussions, and I continue to think about what want da girl to be like.
Although the main idea is still the black coeurl, as far as the tribe is concerned, I am slowly but surely continuing to lean towards the Helions. First of all, as was mentioned in her story, the queen/queen's heiress disappeared and wasn't killed in front of her or sort of (I don't want to think that anyone died again... ._. let's hope it remains that way, right?), and she does not give up her name as Helion, believing that normal life will be restored.
Secondly, just realized that I am a warm-colored person. Cold palettes are super... cool... and can always jazz up my dresser with them, but love how sunny (Got it? Sunny. I’m so funny today. Ahem.) these folks look. Plus, I found their round pupils to be just adorable, such sweet naive eyes!

I wonder if there will be fur pattern on these fluffy patches of fur on the shoulders etc, like on the Hrothguys. Couldn't spot (pun intended) any spots or stripes in the trailer. In the Shadowbringer Hrothgar release trailer they showed two of the five patterns we have in the game now. Wuk Lamat is clearly a once-coloured lioness Hrothgal (aside from the brown hair on the head), so she wouldn't have spots to begin with anyway. (And as Pip_Chick pointed out, it's not 100% sure how well she represents the final Hrothgal model, similar to Yugiri in ARR.)

As much as adore lions, it would be a pity if we wouldn't get patterns on our queens. Was hoping to recreate on of the unusual Coeurl colour patterns for my alt and without spots it would just not be the same.

From what I have seen, at least from what we have so far (Wuk, the trailer ladies and the 2 arts) None of them displayed their highlights, which give the extra colour pattern for males. What I have seen, is that their fur is more scattered to look like a patch, I can't say for certain, but I hope they do cause I like to use the face tiger stripes (like in my profile picture) and they match amazing with the simple stripes the males have.
I also love lions but have wanted to create a more tigress for mine (can't resist the stripes). But.. I wouldn't be mad if we instead got tail rings...
