Yes that makes sense in real life but this is a video game. I come here to have fun, not to ponder if I should cripple myself across several subjects just for the sake of a better shot at a house I want.

If Square wants for people to move to empty servers there are better ways of doing it then make housing shitty for anyone in more populated servers.



That’s another reason why I consider wards a failed housing system. It either takes too much resources on less populated servers and entire wards worth of smalls sit empty, or too little resources and people in more popular places cannot get a house.

I'm in the camp of all of this being intentional to keep subs up for consistent income on their end, which is why instanced housing is a pipe dream at this point unless it comes with auto-demo lol.

I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to move for the chance at a plot that they won’t get to spend much time at because actually playing the game means they have to DC hop every 5 minutes.

That's their choice. But then they have to be willing to match the competition of the server they've chosen to play on. Odds can be improved a lot even without moving data centers and it would be very easy to get at least a Goblet small on any server before Dawntrail. There are Balmung/Mateus plots with less than 20 bids at the moment and people can place 8 bids per server (16 if stacking bids with a friend).

Again, it is your choice because the option and opportunity is there.
Also, what you want and what you actually need is two different things.
A lot of time, you need to sacrifice to get on thing you want.
Instance house and idea of Large for everyone is just not going to be offer by FF14.

And regarding instanced housing, I am of the same opinion that i'll never happen, and am very happy if it never happens, FFXIV is ward housing, there's enough games out there with instanced.

They did stop the auto demo for two years across the entire game during covid and continue to do so whenever some disaster strikes somewhere. I guess it's safe to assume it doesn't make them that much of a difference in income.

They didn't need to worry because of covid. If I remember correctly, covid brought in tons of people to the game which equaled more subs in general and cash shop purchases. Couple that with the rise of the venue scene that now carries the game during content droughts (also emerged during covid), they had their bills paid and little risk of letting people not stress about their houses during that period.

Now that covid is over and people are back in the real world, that same guarantee isn't there anymore. Post-EW being less than satisfactory for a percentage of the community didn't help much either.

They have more to risk now by letting people take a break on their subs compared to covid, in a nutshell.

There’s another of my dream plot opening up for bidding on Monday for the first time in a long time, so I’ll throw my lot in. lol hoping for less bids since there seems to be less people on lately, but we’ll see.
