[Discussion] Which character(s) would you like to inspire future jobs?

I didn't. I left it open because DRK takes some inspiration for Beserk's Guts.
Personally, I would love a Castlevania-inspired whip user.

Except Wakka was never FFX's 'main' character, that was Tidus and Yuna (a... generic swordsman/magic knight and WHM/SMN respectively). Yeah Tidus was a blitzball player, but that didn't continue into battle when he used a sword, and, well, we now have multiple sword using Jobs. So I'm pretty confident FFX is not going to serve as a model for a Job to come.

And it was my understanding SE had already considered and discounted Chemist as a Job twice now (firstly with HW where we got AST, and more recently with EW and SGE), I think we can safely rule out Chemist ever being a thing (after all, FFXI never had it either in it's 20+ years of service).

Hey I can totally be supportive! (I admit, I do kind of dislike FFX and accordingly, I hope blitzball or a blitzball using Job doesn't come to FFXIV... ).

And, I do kind of seem to play devil's advocate in a lot of my posts... Ah well.

Monster Hunter - Gunlance, Heavy Bowgun, Hunting Horn, Switch Axe, Charge Blade, Hammer, Longsword, Greatsword. (Yes the Longsword is basically a Katana and Greatsword a Greatsword, However the size utilized in the MH series basically makes them an entirely different weapon than the ones used by SAM and DRK. I left out Sword and Shield, Bow and Dual Daggers because of PLD, BRD, and NIN, Insect Glaive felt too similar to DRG, and Light Bowgun is just inferior to Heavy. :P)

Nimbus from Exoprimal - Shoot your allies to keep them alive. Also was kind of the theme to the Flintlock job in FFTA2 where they fired cure spells and buffs out of their handcannons.

The Time Master from Empowered - Just to poke at the ppl still asking for Time Mage. Instead we'll give you a goofball with no actual magical or special powers that just uses weapons based on various types of timepieces. :P

Clive from FFXVI, except even more transformation focused. Rather than like an occasional super form, past perhaps like level 50 it's mostly in form. Shadow hearts Yuri Harmonixer (not FF), Vincent Omega (FFVII / Dirge), and Terra Branford (FFVI) meet Clive, and they make an aggressive angry transforming focused job with multiple forms.

whip job - Trevor Belmont

The last Castlevania game I played was Lament of Innocence, which takes the series to its roots. It's an absolutely fantastic game. When I was hoping for a whip user in 7.0, my thoughts were entirely fixated on Leon Belmont, his fighting style, combos, and the use of elementally charged whips. Everything from the aesthetic of his look all the way down to the gameplay itself fits so perfectly into this game. There is also Quistes Trepe from VIII that had me hoping.

I don't see any connection between DRK and Guts besides big sword, which Berserk does not have the claim on. Hell, Cloud himself is more of a Guts homage than DRK.
