No it didn't, because they have done it. Apartments and FC rooms is literally instanced housing. It's not unlimited, but it is close to it with how many there are.
I mean, sure, if they want to make it feel slightly closer to unlimited than it currently is. But we get so many rooms in houses and apartments that it's easy to get them compared to an actual house. This is not even the issue the people have. The issue they have is with getting an actual house in a ward. The issue is priority on the instances
Data is not the issue as much, because Apartments and FC rooms allow for far more than the single houses themselves do. Of course, data would be better if they had an unlimited scaling cloud server, but it's not impossible to add more HDD space because they've done it when expanding the wards, inventory or Island Sanctuary which gave furniture slots to every single player.how much data it is using.
They do put Area Servers onto the same physical machine with other Area Servers. Typically, low activity areas are paired with 1 higher activity area. That is an obvious way to do it. But they are separate server programs. We know housing wards, island sanctuary, and other places basically hog other instances data.
That's most likely because if enough people enter their apartment, FC room or house, then all the instance slots are filled on that private chamber Area Server. People love to hang out at their houses, so it's not a surprise if that happens after a major patch. We've seen this at the beginning of major patches, and expansions where you can't even get into your own islands, or or instanced rooms.
The fact it can happen already proves it's not an issue to make more rooms or apartment slots, because if too many people enter their interior at the same time, it will just give the error like it currently does.
I think you are arguing that we need more interior instances and that we should be able to use different Private Chamber area servers when one is full, so that we don't encounter the "is full" error. But that's not the issue I am talking about at all. That is mostly a Balmung-exclusive issue. It is NOT an easy task to remedy this, so what we should be pursuing is to push SE to upgrade their datacenters, and servers to allow for a large addition to housing space, and new wards.
I am talking about the real issue. More ward servers.
Which is why I was talking about cloud servers. Do you understand what cloud servers are? They are virtual machines stretched over a dynamic number of real machines, allowing you to scale them at the press of a button online. They recently tested one hosted by Amazon, a massive company that already has the server equipment you are referring to.This WILL take time. The server shortages didn't end during Covid. They are still strained and very real even in 2024. To order servers basically takes months to years for this kind of a situation.
