Well, we do canonically have a Half-ElfElezen in Hilda...

But aside from her, I don't think there's any instances of different races being shown to be able to mix.

We have two half-Garleans (Arenvald and Severa) that we know of.

How would you possibly make them visually distinctive? A half-elezen would just look like a regular elezen at minimum height and ear size. What's the point?

That’s made up fanon and Severa having a third-eye fully disproves that anyway since she can completely pass as the race of her father. Otherwise Hilda would just be a Hyur instead of being max-height Hyur with elf ears which is exactly what you’d expect from someone who is half-Elezen.

Alma and Ramza are also half-Garlean.

I wouldn't be opposed. To be honest, it'd make the world more immersive and make sense. I mean, for example: The proximity elezen and hyur have together in a place like Gridania would have some hyurlezen, but we don't see any.

Just using Hilda as an example, her ear shape is unique and not able to be done with a regular Elezen. In that case, really all they’d have to do is add her ears to the Hyur character creators! lol

I would guess a similar thing could be done with other races with distinctive features… like separating out the Au Ra horns and scales, Miquote ears and tails… but the other mixes could be challenging though… which is why I don’t see it happening unfortunately. I would love to play a half-Elezen!

It makes sense that they specifically made Hilda half-elezen. In history, Ishgard is mainly Elezen with migrating Hyurs. Most nobility are Elezen. Hilda being not just half-Hyur but also the child of a Hyur maid and a noble Elezen was a way to highlight this conflict and further support the plotline of class conflict in Ishgard society.

Outside of the sphere of racial abilities/stats, which mean nothing in this game, I don't care for half or mixed races. Our choice in terms of race already means so little (no one reacts to seeing a viera). I wouldn't be against a half-hyur/half-elezen subrace, but it is a tired trope and means little outside aesthetics/RP. This point after Tolkien, it's just extremely overused. I'd personally want a new, unique race.

Aesthetic is probably the number one reason for it… I love the look and I’d like to be able to use it for my character, especially since it’s something that already exists in-game. People just want to look how they want to look.

Personally though, I’d rather they add more variety to the existing races by adding new “clans” to them before making something completely different… the character options we have now could use a lot more variety added to them!

They have non-Garlean ancestors, but they're never treated as anything but Garlean. Presumably, it's far enough back in the family tree that nobody really bothers to acknowledge it.

EE2 outright states Ramza's mom is Hyur:

the proud Garlean of mixed blood - his mother was Hyuran
Jenomis also has a third-eye but neither of his kids do.

Back on topic, while the lore seems to be softening on unions between the different races and you see more couples together in holiday events and in the background, there's not really much of a point to implement that from a gameplay perspective and the characters who are half-one thing and half-another are treated as being particularly unique and special and that is a part of their core identity.

That said, I'm surprised that the devs didn't give us a fake Garlean third eye head equipment piece or glamour item. I wouldn't use it but I'm sure a lot of people would.
