    FFXIV Open world is so boring!

    I was doing the FF11 event on my Lvl 30 Char that has no mounts so I had to run to all 3 fates for the event and boy that was a challenge.. trying to dodge mobs that were higher level then me. I almost died.. it was fun lol... and I realized that current expansions dont give me that Thrill.. Leveling has really become very boring and dull.. Put back the Thrill of leveling back in the game.. Make the Open world scary and fun again.

    I mean, obviously they don't when you are overgeared or a higher level. If you are in leveling gear for that expansion then they still hurt a lot and can even kill you. But you do also have better tools to handle it, such as self-heals on tanks and Bloodbath and Second Wind on melee DPS.

    It's not really any different. If you use a chocob, it's probably going to be a better level at level 80 than it is at level 30.

    You reminded me of the mad dashes to Selbina to get to leveling parties way back in the day. You were guaranteed at least 1 death and a long run back if no one could raise you within the time limit.

    I miss watching the dead bodies fall out of the ferry when it docks in selbina after a pirate attack or sea horror spawn.

    I feel like XIV's overworld has always been one of its most...lacking aspects overall.

    Aside from gathering, treasure maps, and hunt marks, it largely just ends up feeling like a set piece for the MSQ and side quests and once those are done it feels lifeless and barren.

    I find I tend to end up liking more "condensed" zones like Yanxia or...pretty much any of the ARR zones because most modern zones tend to have tons of empty space that's not filled with anything of particular interest other then random enemies that may or may not be tied to hunt bills.

    Well flying killed any sense of danger, so there’s that. Unless they add aerial enemies that can attack you as you fly or even aquatic enemies to attack you in the water, ground enemies are easily avoidable and under leveled after you gear up.

    Don't think there was ever any sense of danger?

    Seriously. When you get to HW+ level a gatherer up as you go along, and you can use that post MSQ to gather aether currents without being attacked.

    Nah, they weren't ever dangerous, just annoying.



    As for the open world thing, I don't think it would work in the modern MMO. Not because of a lack of interest, but because of how old open world MMOs functioned. Just look at XI and NMs for instance. You had people botting claim just to have a chance to get loot. Can you imagine that in XIV? Or, if they made them like fates, youd have it even worse than hunts if world bosses dropped good loot.
