So I've bought a few mounts from the Cash shop, Specifically Sleipnir, and SDS Fenrir, mainly cuz Odin is my favorite summons in the series, and I'm a huge FF7 fan. Anything else from the shop has strictly been gifted to me. When I bought these mounts XIV was less popular and I didn't mind as much, they could have used to extra cash. But now a days I stay far away from the cash shop due to it being very predatory.

The issue with SE as a company is they've always been this money hungry, and the issue with CBU3, is that they treat XIV like it's still that game that was on life suppourt. Mix them both together and here we are, the Cash shops very VERY heavy use by the company and the manipulation of impluse buyers. It's very much a disgusting practice and something I dislike a lot.

All of this being said there sadly aren't many other game companies that make games like this. The goal is to show them what we want changed and push for it despite people who would rather just sit back and watch and then cry when things are actually dire.

And for anyone saying it's not Predatory, Yoshida Allowed the SDS fenrir to be the fastest ground mount and promoted it for expansion launches multiple times lmfao. That is infact predatory and also contributes to why servers are shit on launch, people find this out from FC mates and people in game and rush to buy it since regular mounts are slow as shit until we get flying. It may be one mount, but it's still predatory af.

And given SEs track record for monetization it's only a matter of time before they give other things this treatment. Yoshida is already on record saying he hates being on the board and that they care more about money then games. When and if SE WANTs to push more predatory content onto the shop, they will.
