    This Green Mage situation is reminding me so much of Dancer. Everyone hyped Green Mage up so much when they thought it was what we were getting. I have a feeling that we may end up getting it for a caster down the line because of fan requests. Its also so underutilized and lacks identity in the series beyond its image. Its a great candidate for a reimagined job.

    Still holding out hope for Blitzballer as the ranged physical, added alongside the minigame. For the second one, Rune/Mystic Knight as tank because Celes was my favorite, though I'm scratching my head on what cool unique weapon they could give that one.

    This is a thing I have posted whenever this topic comes up…so far it’s been pretty on point for roles, but I rarely guess the actual jobs themselves:

    My Assumptions:
    1) Jobs (or really any additions) are chosen based on what will sell the expansion/get fans excited. $$$
    2) Job choices are not forced to fill missing "gaps" in roles. (4 magical ranged including BLU before a 3rd physical ranged)
    3) The way roles are organized is fluid. (It used to just be Melee DPS and Ranged DPS)
    4) New jobs can be influenced by the place we're going. but this is not a requirement. (YoshiP was originally planning to do SAM in HW)

    • 2 Tanks (WAR, PLD)
    • 2 Healers (WHM, SCH)
    • 2 Melee DPS (DRG, MNK)

    Current Situation:
    • 4 Tanks (WAR, PLD, DRK, GNB)
    • 4 Healers (WHM, SCH, AST, SGE)
    • 6 Melee DPS (DRG, MNK, NIN, SAM, RPR, VPR)
    • 3 Physical Ranged DPS (BRD, MCH, DNC)
    • 4 Magical Ranged DPS (BLM, SMN, RDM, PCT)
    • 2 Limited Jobs (BLU, BST)

    Speculation:

    Regarding jobs as a whole, I expect...
    • Based on live letters, at least 1 DPS in each future expansion that has new jobs.
    • An expansion will come with only 1 job, or possibly none at all.
    • An eventual reorganization of jobs by GEAR SET.
    • An attempt to balance of total Melee and Ranged, divided into their armor sets.
    • BLU will be moved from "Magic Ranged DPS" to "Limited Job". (Shown above)
    • Not so many full new expansions left; maybe 2-3.
    Regarding new jobs, I expect the next expansion to have:
    • A Physical Ranged DPS (I expect there will be only 1 job).
    • …but maaaaybe possibly a Tank or Healer.
    Regarding new jobs, EVENTUALLY I would guess/I could see...
    • Ranger/Corsair/Marine: A ranged rifle user, wearing aiming gear, using the "bow-mage" mechanics. Possibly "Colonial Era" flavor. Possibly related to the "New World" to the west.
    • Mystic Knight: A flashy sword user; probably scimitars or Khopesh. Possibly "Arabian Nights" flavor. Possibly related to Meracydia.
    Regarding new jobs, my personal wish list..
    • (New Job): A dual-crossbow-wielding, acrobatic trap user, wearing scouting gear. Something like Linkle or even Bayonetta.
    • (New Job): A shape-shifting job.

    I think the one job an expansion idea is horrible. Yeah, I know they become difficult to balance, but that is just an example of the fact that the devs need to create teams to handle the balance, instead of the way they are barely holding on to it right now.

    With the amount of classic jobs In the series, we still have many that could be added to keep the momentum of at least two per expansion, that would mean waiting twice as long for those jobs to be added. Imagine two years of waiting at a time for an old favorite. It would be miserable. I don’t want to see Geomancer, Corsair, Chemist, Green Mage, or Oracle by the time I’m 50.

    At this point I’d like an actual dedicated designer for the healer role

    It’s obvious since about 5.0 that the healer role is both being designed by someone who is a DPS main and is designing healer based on how DPS think healers should play, and that regardless of what they actually design they really don’t care for the role at all

    They did three for 3.0 and explicitly said that they don't want to go through this again.     If they had extra staff members, we could get more things like this. The dev team is always talking about constraints, and it makes me believe that they are working on a strawman budget and team. Its time to grow so that they can keep up. Not completely without limits obviously. I know that hiring too many people at once isn't the best thing, but they should assemble some new dev teams to help with other things that fans desire.

    My feeling is that they just won't because the CEO won't approve it, which he should seriously think of doing. FFXIV is the lifeblood of the Final Fantasy series right now aside from FFXVI, and the VII remake. They have been facing some hard times, and without this game they wouldn't be as successful today.

    Maybe Yoshi P should just threaten to leave the board, and ask them for more money as a compromise for not leaving lmao.

    I'll only say this.

    Unless they expand more than 6 per Type.
    [Tank, Healer, Melee, Ranged, Magic]

    I seriously Doubt we will get more than 6 Total Melee DPS.

    My bets, and hopes are on eventually getting Two Tanks, Two Healers.

    Ranged Could go into 6 total as well, but that requires some long cooking of concepts. So far, I've only thought of a Chemist/explosives/launcher.

    Magic will Round off to 4 with DT.
    (we could get 2 more, With a job that Specifically Deals with Dynamis. Non Specifc Damage type, like Psionics/Telekinesis. and another Unknown, hopefully something Original. and not preexisting.)

    But as for the Next Expansion.

    IDK, how much do we expect them to work the game in jobs.

    assuming we get 4 more expansions after DT at a rate of 2 per expac that's 8 max jobs.

    [2T/2H/3R/2M] there would needs be at least one expac with three.
    (assuming we never get any more melee dps)

    and then how long do we expect FFXIV to even run?

    SE/CBUIII would need to show us that the next expansions are worth riding through with DT.

    and hopefully give us an idea of how Classes/Jobs will Roll out in the future before we can accurately say which jobs.

    But for now, I'm all For 2 Tanks next Expac.

    We don't need another melee DPS that's for sure, we do not need 2 more DPS, Support Jobs (tanks/healers) take up 1/2 of the party but have 8 in total, while damage jobs take up the same amount but have 13 In DT (This would make it 15). I dislike that "using different melee gear" is now a excuse to why we need so much melee dps, infact the only purpose different gear on melee serves is making end game gearing annoying.

    My Guess/want is Physical ranged, Tank if a second option, as they never have made a expansion with out one far ranged Job (Phys/mag/healer) or one close ranged job (tank/melee), I don't think we will get a Healer at least for a while because having that 2/2 split was the whole reason why they removed barrier astro. Maybe afterwards? But honestly I would make rather they just make the current jobs fun an different.
