Besides, unless they implement a drastically different body archetype akin to a truely beastial race or something with a unique limb arrangement like Lost Remnant's Sovani race they can just use the existing bone structures and item setups that we have already, EG Ivalician Moogles or Loporits would largely share assets with Lalafell.

As to comments saying that SE should be focusing on mechanics, roles etcetc. This isn't FFXI, races are almost entirely aesthetic alone now. Raid designers aren't having to take into account Lalafell vs Roes.

So personally, I'm of quite the opposite angle. Keep the new races coming. It's the lowest effort way to add an entirely fresh spin on the game for many++
I said what I said.

New races are comparable to introducing new jobs to the game. It's a hype and marketing concept.

It still creates assets that have to be kept up. Hrothgar and Viera hats aren't even the only single issue with races currently.

We have Miqo'te and Au Ra tail clipping issues. We have general clipping issues with a lot of hair styles. I very much doubt that the current graphics update is going to remedy a lot of these issues, and these are things that I would rather see them tackle, rather than adding more races to the game that will share these faults.

Also, it should be mentioned that even if only one small part of the development team is working on races, that part of the team's time is still budgeted and that part of the team eventually has to operate with the rest of the team at some point. So yes, the workload does eventually have its impact on the entire content creation process. Don't be obtuse.

See, and this is the other part of the issue.

The playerbase should most definitely not have a hand in choosing the new race that makes it into the game. I mean look at this thread, look at all the threads asking for a specific individual race, and you'll realize that there's an issue there.

If there's going to be a new race then SE needs to draft the concepts and let us provide feedback, rather than letting the community fight over which of their concepts is going to make it into the game.
