    Opinion aside, the spell effects they showed are just really low quality compared to, for instance, EW jobs' visual offerings. Even if the style isn't going to change, I hope the quality at least improves between now and release. The yellow rock explosion spell was especially off-putting.

    My question is those blobs of paint going to affect you being able to see AOE attacks. Is it going to make it harder for small characters to see in battle. I know some spells with bright light attacks causes me not to see attacks.

    When you do drawing from life you hold your brush or pencil or whatever up at arms length and close one eye to help with depth perception, proportion etc etc. It's not winking lmao

I'm hoping they announce Resurrection (SMN) and Verraise die too. So they can properly balance the Casters. Sadly, I suspect SMN will lose their raise but RDM will be saddled with it for another expansion and once again end up the forgotten child.

    I like the class. We've been shown 6 skills. 4 of these serve to show you'll be using 4 different elements. Fire, Ice, Earth, and Air alongside a summon attack in lieu of a Moogle firing a laser beam. We will call that Moogle Beam for now. And sixth skill which I think we do not know what it eactly does where you draw a painting with shooting stars which I expect is reminiscent of Relms Desperation Attack Star Prism.

    What's more is that the class may possibly have unique casting animations with the way you move with the brush.

    Now onto what we can say for sure.

    Pictomancer

    Ranged Magical DPS

    Casting Gear

    Instant Cast Spells and Abilities, Cooldown based Painting/Sketch attacks along with Hardcasted Spells

    Starting Location: Gridania

    Weapon: Paintbrush

    Works in the medium of mixed aether, wielding a specialized brush to render their imagining's reality.
    These creations include not only creatures and weapons, but landscapes as well.
    As evoking such wonders takes time, the pictomancer also keeps instant-cast abilities and spells at the ready.

    The pictomancer channels offensive elemental magic by creating a variety of artwork. In addition to hard-cast spells, they also have several instant cast actions, similar to other magical ranged DPS. They will also be able to buff nearby allies, similar to Red Mage or Summoner. They will not have access to a resurrection spell.

    Given they cannot raise party members I would expect they either do high damage on par with BLM or they buff party members with their other abilities in a similar vein to WoW's Evoker or any other support class in MMOs that focuses on giving out buffs to the party so while you damage might be otherwise low you provide lots of DPS through your party.

    If I have anything bad to say it's that Picto will probably be a Cooldown based job which probably means that the combat will double down on it's 2 minute meta design but until more information is available I'll reserve judgment.

    Still the job class is more exciting to me then Viper is so I am looking forward to it.

    Nice idea.
    Its similary to Sai from Naruto. Fill from Black clover. Or the samurai from One Piece.

    And, its magic that can be used to entertaining people (most spell schools in Aetheris is only able to hurt or heal someone, its missing uses for the daily life or entertaining).

    But, the class didnt fit me (waiting to see, how its playing). Its looks to happy and im not a artist.

    Im a black mage and stay in the abyss, while i use the dark magic (or im jumping out of the abyss as a dragoon -only to fall on the floor-).^^

    I bet that the mechanics will revolve around a pallette gauge that you collect colors on from filler spells and the resulting combination allows access to different long cast times (painting the actual picture). I think I wanted to expect something more unique because this looks like a mix of Sen + Mudras, though.

    Regardless, If it ends up to be a 'combination system' I just want it to offer diversity of resource expenditure rather than just X for single target, Y for aoe.
