Also not a fan of the effects, they look much too diffuse and something like the rocks/ice is very low resolution. The effects also lacks any clear outlines. It's odd that we got some good drawing effects with Byakko and the tiger screen that looks to fit this world, while Pic just seems to have stepped out of the Fall Guys collab.
I'm not agains the idea of the job, but if they had gone more in line with ink than the colors I might have liked it more.
At this point I'm happy I'm used to playing with minimal battle effects from party members.

What happens when the Pictomancer has top DPS?
They become the PAINter!

I wasnt too hopefull about it, but when they said it was gonna have instant casts avaliable during the presentation my hearth sank, now I only expect a summoner 2 (without the res lol)
A ink brush/caligraphy black&white pictomancer would have fit my tastes better, but oh well

What concerns me about this is what it says about fight design to come, which leads into new abilities and changes. SMN is probably staying a phys ranged while RDM and BLM get more insta casts or such.
From Meleewalker to Meleetrail lmao
Wasn't expecting anything to hype me, and as expected it didn't hype me at all, turned me off even.
I get Okami vibes but the effects look so cartoony. If it's a support I'll definitely take a look, I like the painting stuff better than the dancing stuff. More interested in Viper so far, even though it's not hyping me either.

I am glad we got this instead of "green mage" like caster! Pictomancer gives me magical girl vibes and I absolutely love it. The animations were well done; i loved the whole cartoony and bright aesthetic of the spells and the casting animations. As for the job mechanics, it would be so cool if we could rotate between paints/colors indicated by our palette job gauge. Maybe certain paints give more advantage during certain buffs and we could mix paints allowing access to new skills like the moogle cannon lol. The skills reminded me of a more vibrant ninja which was cool. I don't want to compare it do DNC, but I think that's the direction they'll be going in terms of dps, maybe between SMN and RDM?? Overall, it was well done, whimsical and colorful and I'm on the PIC (of PCT??) train.

The effects could be less tailored to be cutesy but we might be jumping the shark as we've only seen a few and if a moogle beam exists then of course they will show a moogle beam. I want to say the aesthetic not matching how players view their own characters is not unique to this job. For instance, I don't associate my character with being dark and edgy so Dark Knight and Reaper are jobs I only play for functional reasons.
No, if that was their intention the art department failed miserably, it doesn't look stylized enough to look like ink wash brush, it also doesn't even look like it belongs to the game, more like fall guys artstyle, it doesn't even compare to the CGI trailer one bit, it's got to be the biggest disconnect I've seen between CGI trailer and in-game job I've ever seen in any job release.
What is unique about Pictomancer's case as far as the aesythetic not matching the player fantasy would be their personal art style/personal taste in art. What if someone's tastes is more lined up with realism, or something with richer tones, or a black monochrome style? The effects could be less tailored to be cutesy but we might be jumping the shark as we've only seen a few and if a moogle beam exists then of course they will show a moogle beam. I want to say the aesthetic not matching how players view their own characters is not unique to this job.
