    Great concept, the armor looks fun, and the weapon has a lot of potential for cool brushes and palettes. I also quite like some of the skill effects and didn't even find the Moogle beam to be all that offensive.

    I could do without the squelching sounds though, and the paint splatter texture looks a little flat and out of place. I quite like the similar effect on the Byakko crafted weapons though, so maybe it's just the bright colours making it look a little off to me on a first impression.

    I thought it was a joke at first. I was even on my seat thinking, "That Yoshi-P sure does like to trollol sometimes." Then imagine my horror when I realized it was real.

    If other players out there like it, that's fine. But I can't help but see this as SE's flagship is headed right towards the iceberg. The most positive thing I took from the trailer was that they actually used a female Midlander to display a new job, but then my thoughts shifted to, "They used a female Midlander to display this job." The concept does not work for this game, and even if trying to shoehorn it in, everything from the battle effects to the gear is well below the established standards for FFXIV.

    I know the job might be up to par when it comes to how it performs in game. This is coming purely from what we have seen in the past when they preview new jobs coming to the game. Remember the flare of RDM, and SAM's impression of raw power? Remember DNC's elegance and beauty, and GNB's homage to the fan favorite Squall Lionhart? How about SGE's tribute to Gundam, and RPR being the DRK everyone had been asking for?

    What happened, SE? Seriously. WTF happened?

    I agree with you on this, plus for those who were looking for a new caster for 6-7 years (Stormblood was released in June 2017) seeing what other roles got compared to this is disheartening for at least me. My positive take away on the job is that it's going to at least not be tied down at being a support job like Red Mage is currently like I was hoping for. I do plan to give the job a fair try before making a full opinion as I have been looking for a replacement caster after Summoner was changed in 6.0 and not really feeling the current 3. But if I feel that job is not a good fit to play, I hope we don't have to wait another 6 to 7 years for a new caster again plus I would hope that does not fall into the support category.

    However, I do hope the developers make some changes to the job quickly, such as the sloshing and squishing sound effects as I think it will get annoying after running the job for a period of time. As well as I hope they update the vfx of the attacks, I get that it has to have the painted feel to the attacks to it, but they just look bland to me. Take a look at the Demon Chadarnook fight in Sigmascape V2.0 the paintings there did not have a poorly rendered animation instead they looked like the actual proper vfx effect after the paint was applied (waterfall to weaken the fire aoe, the rock to block the flood attack), even the boss attacks were also not paint splashes as well despite pulling effects from the images. I mean they can still keep the paint part but transition the effect to look what the actual animation is depicting (such as the ice and Titan Gaol attack).

    I think that this is a really good way to get players who aren't normally interested in the Caster DPS aesthetic to try it out. It's an exciting enough concept that I would consider maining it if I wasn't already torn between two melee DPS possibilities.

    From a practical standpoint, I'm worried that this won't resolve the balance issues within the Caster DPS role category. It seems like every non-BLM Caster is relegated to being a 'support Caster' (read: dps disadvantage). I'd like to see the new jobs actually dethrone the 'selfish DPS' side of things for once, in the interest of seeing new comps.

    Cool, I guess, but I can't imagine making this job stylistically work for a highlander character. Or most of the races, really. Feels like they went so hard on the goofball style it probably only really fits lalas, go figure.

    I don't think I've had such a visceral "not for me" reaction on pure aesthetic before besides Ninja (because that damn Naruto run looks doubly idiotic on any character taller than 5 feet), and at least I had to actually try Ninja first.

    I think the job makes sense. There aren't too terribly many magical DPS job archetypes to work with from the Final Fantasy series (and Green Mage and Time Mage would be weird as anything other than a dedicated buffer/debuffer role that is absent from this game), so I get it. Not for me, but I get it.

    However, I pretty much tuned out completely whenever Yoshi-P felt the need to announce that there would be instant-casts for the Job. I mean, I assumed that there would be seeing as how the recent homogeneous job design seems allergic to hard casts, but it specifically being point out in the presentation makes me think it will be egregious. Why even separate magic DPS and ranged DPS at this point? Do casters not like casting spells?

    i still cannot believe this is a legit class in FFXIV, the concept is fine, i guess but those Rodger Rabbit, Disney style cartoon brush strokes make me want to log off and never log back in. Its like a 5 year olds wet dream, so out of place.
