For me, his introduction felt very contrived. If he was that much more powerful than the WoL at their first meeting, he should have just killed the WoL - along with everyone else in Rhalgr's Reach - instead of walking away.

Zenos would have been far more interesting as an opponent if those first 2 MSQ fights had ended in stalemates, where neither managed to gain an advantage over the other. His continued obsession with defeating the WoL would have made far more sense.

His motivation at that point essentially was an obsession to cure his boredom. He'd heard of the WoL's exploits and deeds but was let down on the initial meetings. So he subsequently set out basically to intentionally create the correct conditions needed to draw out the full potential of his opponent. It's similar in a way to Yujiro Hanma who in his world became so strong he is regarded as the strongest creature on Earth and despite his attitude and behavior tends to value those few people that show the potential to be able to challenge him.

This again. Huzzah. “We want different” Different what? “We have no idea but different” Cool thank you.

Maybe it's time to leave mate? That's not a bad thing, people change after all. Maybe it's time?

But whuh they love this game so much though they whuh want it totally changed in a whuh way that they can not actually explain clearly.

Though I think we are also only looking at this in terms of things to fight. The threat could be someone who uses the WoL's ability to influence others to do some serious damage in some way. A more intellectual threat than a straight up brawl. Again, possibilities are there, but I'm starting to ramble.
I like the idea of an intellectual threat rather than one of shear brawn vs. brawn. I also think it would make a lot of sense at this point in the story. You might be on to something here. My disinterest in where the story is going is definitely superficial, and there is a lot of room for correction on my part. I just hope the dev team can cook up something good and original. I am not sure I can handle anymore fanservice plot narratives. We shall see.

Usually what they want is their game experience to be what they remember from the past - filled with the excitement that comes from playing something new, and having unknowns to tackle and learn. There's a special magic that happens when a game new to us captures our attention and it's hard to resist wanting to feel that magic again.

What they still haven't figured out is they can't bring back those original feelings about a game once they've been playing it a few years. They've learned how the game works and what's expected of players. It makes it easier to figure out what to do when the game tosses a new mechanic or a new job at the player base.

The magic can only be recaptured by starting fresh in a different game.

It doesn't matter what others try to tell them. It's a lesson that many will only learn over time through personal experience.

Yeah I think that wouldve been better to sell the idea of his obsession with you despite getting trounced easily. Although I guess the fact that you survived for that long in the fight was enough to warrant interest from Zenos so I dont necessarily think his introduction was as badly executed

Oddly enough, none of those $3000+ worth of items is actual game content (aka DLC).

Now, the online store in Lord of the Rings Online does include actual game content (aka DLC), because it is a free to play game. If memory serves, the online store for Star Wars: The Old Republic (another free to play game) also sells DLC.

Expansions are essentially DLC and they cost the sort of fee that a new game would. The subscription fee effectively pays for your access to the patches as well.

The second one offers a subscription fee as an alternative, which is honestly simpler than trying to build up perks with online store packages.

    Yes but no.

It's true that you need to be subscribed at the point where you want to play the patch content, but nothing is forcing you to be subscribed every time there is a new patch. You get the same content whether you pay monthly for two years or wait until the end and binge it all in a single month.
