I'm sorry, but I'm not inclined to blame FF16 development too much for the woes of this expansion, given that most of the issues with the expansion IMO is decision and direction-related, some of it is on resource, but most is just a big blunder in decision making.

Island Sanctuary being solo-play related, and being completely isolated was a decision, and IMO not a problem caused by lack of resource from working on two games - They already had adequate foundation in Crafting and Gathering to uplift the experience. The system was already there, they elected not to use it.

Relic system being a dried out experience with little grind or variety is also decision, and IMO not entirely a resource problem. Relic could have easily gone with a system similar to ARR or HW grinds. They could have even tied it into V&C - Not doing that was a decision problem.
Exactly all this tbh. Island Sanctuary not being social and being done over Eureka/Bozja was a choice.

Relics using tomestones instead of a fixed grind with its own content was a choice.

Criterion not being some sort of medium difficulty between variant and savage was a choice.

Job design was a choice to make it simple for new, casual and returning players, not a resource issue or a "lazy" issue. It was all just a choice thing.

I mean I rather ff14 get just more quality things, especially more quality job design (Healers/tanks in paticular). Ew was certainly very mid story & gameplay wise to me but I don't think that's entirely because of ff16, I'm sure we could have gotten more if ff16 wasn't a thing, but I don't even really think it's the lack of content, it's the lack of quality and always playing it as safe as possible that really doesn't make me excited for the future of the game, I think a lot of even the story has gotten to a point where I just don't care anymore, they really aren't taking many risks with characters either. So I feel like I will only be playing the game just to see how it's changed in DT, I don't really have high expectations like I used to.

I think the issue is we're getting loads of different content aimed for different players but a lot that content isn't really high quality and takes time from other focuses, The game has felt like less of a MMO focus as well and more of a single player game with online features, that plus less replay ability (in job design), makes waiting for new patches very slow for me, when it comes around to that patch cycle I just do the story and sometimes play with friends now, it's more or less hard to get invested in the game like I used to.

I think what this game deserves is more quality really, I'd be more then happy to wait even longer for patches/expansions If the game was actually fun and had more replay able content/designs.

To be honest, everytime I read something about 'more content for FFXVI' I only become annoyed, because it means that FFXIV is going to suffer. In the end it's Yoshi's decision.

But..., also honestly, I really don't care about FFXVI and I am just sad that it seems like they don't have enough manpower to develop both at the same time.

I will never play FFXVI. It makes me mad just when I hear FFXVI, because I love FFXIV. :c

XVI was pretty much done when EW came out. By that logic, SB and SHB should have been terrible since XVI started development during HW.

But it wasn't. So I'm going to go out on a limb and say XVI's development had little impact on XIV.

    Why do you believe this?

They have completely separate teams. Literally the people working on FF16 moved over from FF14 as long ago as Heavensward and Stormblood.

It's unlikely they would merge the teams after establishing themselves as separate entities. What is more likely to happen is the FF16 team will start working on FF17 when they are done making DLC.

In the end it's Yoshi's decision.
I mean, kinda? It's also partly on the director of FF16 (that is not Yoshi btw) and on Square Enix as a whole, who will most likely decide this together.

I am just sad that it seems like they don't have enough manpower to develop both at the same time.
You are assuming they are developing less on FF14 just because they are not making the content you like and not making it last the duration you would like.

The reality is they still produce about the same as they always have, it just has less longevity ie. relic grinds not being grinds, less social interaction ie. island sanctuary and less relevance to casual/midcore players ie. the abundance of raid content in 2 ultimates, 3 criterion/criterion savage, 7 extremes, 12 savages. But it's still the same textures, models, environment and cutscene work as always.

Considering nothing we say or do on these forums actually reaches the devs (even our own forum mod team tends to make one post and then vanish into the ether forever), that definition makes the entire idea of using the forums for feedback parasocial.

I loved FF16 and want more of the same. I'm looking forward to DT quite a lot and 8.0 as well. But if they said they were doing FF17 I'd be excited.

In this recent Famitsu Article Yoshida said that he wants to work on another main title with CBU3.

No. It's been proven that this team cannot manage working on 2 Main Title FF games and make meaningful content for one while fucilitating the other. FF16 has been in development since Heavensward, it wasn't until Shadowbringers that we began feeling the stress of that development, with promises not being met and watching the man crying on stage for his own short comings in that regard. And now Endwalker feeling like a husk in comparison to its sibling expansions. Focus on XIV, Focus on Making this game great, There is a reason CBU1 is the team for Single player games and CBU3 is the MMO devision. Let Nomura do his job in making single player games.

XIV Deserves Full Time Focus and Full Time Devs and A Full. Time. Director.

I want this to be the best game it can be, because it's already been the best, bring it back to that.
It's hard to make a statement like this because it feels like "Endwalker got less than it's sibling expansions". Like where is the evidence him being a producer for 16 made Endwalker worse? We have endlessly discussed in the forums what we think happened to oversimplify the game in terms of job and encounter design, but all these decisions could have been taken without him working on 16. He was upset at not being able to release Endwalker on time because it needed fine tuning thanks to the pandemic, but that doesn't mean he didn't deliver the game he wanted to deliver.

It's just wild conjecture at this point. I could say that he wants to work on another main title cuz he's bored out of his mind of 14, and that can feel true since he's been the director of this disaster game for more than a decade, and that could feel true, but it doesn't mean it is.
