It wouldn't hurt to try this for sure. There will always be bad actors but lessening their presence would be great. I do also feel like part of it is that FL just doesn't engage people's attention enough.
I don't think it would hurt to try teaching the basics. Novice still is good advice btw because it's just the basics which is all I'm suggesting. I'm not saying teach meta theory and interaction on a job to job situation to situation balance. Just a simulation with the consequences for overextending spelled out in a "Failed" screen would help certain players a lot and I'm all for that. You're second point is in line with Nikoto and I'm onboard there.
I agree with a lot of this if nothing else than to try because things are pretty stale as is. I super agree with separating balance between CC and FL if possible.
- Axe the third team and drop the player count to 48.
- Rework the maps to accommodate for only two teams.
- Axe the copy/pasted rng-based objectives. Objectives are too similar across the remaining 3 FL modes, they're just variations of 'click on the thing to get the points.' Give each mode more unique and engaging objectives.
- I don't think they'll actually do this, but at least balance FL and CC abilities separately.
- Remove the damage reduction modifiers. You won't need it with the lower player count. Rival Wings works just fine without them.
- Don't take 6+ months to fix game-destroying exploits.
BONUS
- Make an actual small-scale PvEvP mode. Something akin to Destiny 2's Gambit, or Exoprimal matches or something. (No, I'm not suggesting this jokingly. The PvP toolkits are interesting enough that I think they could make something like this work.)
I do wish these modes were returned and bundled as a roulette to ensure participation. I understand why they axed them for comp, but what a waste. I disagree on the RW observations based on personal experience but that's just me.
Bring back 24-player 8v8v8 frontlines. I realize this could be pub-stomp central for pre-mades as it once was, but I don't think the 4 man-party limit was around during the 24-player days. Would make for an interesting dynamic especially if pre-made parties were split among the alliances properly. It won't pop frequently since FL also pops regularly now, but having the 24-player mode when it does slow down will help the mode pop.
EDIT: I guess it should be said, 24-person version FL should also have the frontline map sizing adjusted accordingly. I remember that it took much too long to get from objective to objective.

Just going to throw my small thoughts out.
I've been meeting new friends in the lower ranks of CC as of lately, and they been having quite a blast with pvp. They have been giving me thoughts on what changes should be made in order for them to have more fun. The most I have been hearing thus far from the few that I talk to is queuing duos in CC, having chat in CC, queuing full party in frontlines, and, with some of the players coming from WoW, faction pvp.
I've stayed silent and didn't offer any input. I'm not sure what to tell the new friends of mines seeing that some of the stuff has been taken or reworked in the previous expansion. I really don't feel like scaring away the new players that are enjoying themselves with what's currently there. I already had that experience before telling a group what they managed to dodge just for them to quit because of a past feature that they missed out on. Like, it's been that difficult for me to speak about pvp in general. These days I'll rather just go to a different topic just to keep my thoughts to myself.
if you enjoy pvp i dont see a reason not to talk about it good or badJust going to throw my small thoughts out.

Honestly, I might have too much love for pvp lol. Regardless, I'm just trying not to complain about certain things. That's all. It's been increasing difficult to do so seeing the changes and how its affecting how I play and how much fun I'm having then. Personally, I would love if the devs could ease up on some of these restrictions going forward. It's been quite a bit since I've started the journey, and the restrictions has only increased and gotten tighter over time. While I do understand how we got to where we are today I can't comprehend how pve has more choices and options than pvp.
Just square enix taking the time to read this would be a miracle in itself, imagine putting work in they're pay to play game. You must be dreaming. It took them 10 years to remove carteneau to " work " on it.
While I admire and mostly agree with everything you say.. I have come to a conclusion that square enix does not care about the pvp aspect of this game, not only that but this last expansion was just bad all around.
Playing the Cloud Data Centre I had a "huh. that's still there" moment. Unlocking both Rival Wings and Frontlines on the test center brought up the cinematics/ a cutscene of each mode. Rival Wings unlock had Astralagos (a map we cannot play at this time), and Frontlines and The Borderland Ruins (another unplayable map).Just square enix taking the time to read this would be a miracle in itself, imagine putting work in they're pay to play game. I will say though, I have seen 1 (albeit minor change) that came from the NA PVP forums implemented into the game in the time I have been playing. Coincidence? Might be a fool's errand, but I hope it wasn't a coincidence.
PvP Mode; where there is no battle high buff and one shot abilities.
