    7.0 Large scale PVP wishlist

    This is my shortlist of things I want to see in 7.X for Large scale PVP

    1.) A short but mandatory interactive series of trials to explain the general ebb and flow of large-scale engagements for new players.(yes I am once again asking for hall of novice pvp edition)

    2.) Map rotation based on hour(s) rather than days would be nice.

    3.) More direct interaction with balancing. Nobody enjoys months of awful meta play while waiting for the next big patch.

    4.) New maps/modes to fill out the roster. New maps could even be different areas of the same places that have different layouts. I for one would love a redux of Ballista and it would be on theme with a somewhat XI flavored expansion.

    5.) Please either add Rival Wings to the rotation for frontlines or better still give it its own roulette.

    6.) More rewards to purchase with wolf marks/trophy crystals. There has been a good push on this lately but let's not go slack on the momentum. Some things could probably have purchase prices adjusted slightly to strike a better balance between casuals and no lifers.

    I'm sure other people have opinions on this as well these are just the quick ones for me that deserve mentioning.

    We definitely need them to find some kinda way to roll out PVP changes and adjustments inbetween PVE patches, however with the way maintenance works and the fact it's not a solely PVP focused game like Apex or Call of Duty it makes sense why this would be difficult for them to do. Everything else here is a realistic expectation that should be implemented as soon as possible.

    I hope they make Frontline EXP rewards based on placement, so that people who afk these gamemodes for the MSQ level EXP have to actually learn it.

    And of course, Rival Wings getting its own daily roulette - as it stands a 48 player mode will simply not be filled up without a daily.

    Why do people love to suggest mandatory tutorial content which will inevitably become obnoxious and outdated? The best way to encourage players to improve is to simply reward them more for winning and reward them less for losing.

    then theyre being rewarded regardless and the discrepancy of the amount rewarded would have to be noticeable something i doubt 14 devs will do, at least with a required tutorial an individual may have the basic understanding rather than queing into something then possibly losing and then no longer be interested in pvp due to a lack of preparation/understanding, theres more i can go into but i think these wil suffice for now

    • Axe the third team and drop the player count to 48.
    • Rework the maps to accommodate for only two teams.
    • Axe the copy/pasted rng-based objectives. Objectives are too similar across the remaining 3 FL modes, they're just variations of 'click on the thing to get the points.' Give each mode more unique and engaging objectives.
    • I don't think they'll actually do this, but at least balance FL and CC abilities separately.
    • Remove the damage reduction modifiers. You won't need it with the lower player count. Rival Wings works just fine without them.
    • Don't take 6+ months to fix game-destroying exploits.

    BONUS
    • Make an actual small-scale PvEvP mode. Something akin to Destiny 2's Gambit, or Exoprimal matches or something. (No, I'm not suggesting this jokingly. The PvP toolkits are interesting enough that I think they could make something like this work.)

    the 1st point is just RW, so i disagree with reducing it from 3 as well as the player count as well as the following point with the maps
    i like the 3rd point of adding different objectives but also would be nice to just have a deathmatch style mode
    4th point would be nice i think each class should have a balance of aoe & single target abilities......yes like SHB

    Oh, and one I forgot. I think PvP could do with a voucher system they've been making a habit of implementing in different forms of content. Give avid PvPers things to spend their mountains of trophy crystals and wolf marks on. All I really have to use them on these days is glamour prisms, ventures, or gear to convert into GC seals. Have some mounts to purchase behind them or something.

    That's kind of the point. A lot of issues stem from the three-team/72-player design; issues FL has suffered from for so long people have stopped caring and just accepted, and that Rival Wings doesn't have.
    id rather not have them keep removing modes from pvp intsead we should have more(bring feast back), some of the issues from FL arent similar to each other, most notable issues over time were (based from other threads) premades (i dont have an issue with this), meta GC, afk, tome & xp farming, imbalanced jobs (shb was the best version for FL) reducing FL from 3 to 2 GCs isnt gonna fix anything nor will reducing the number of players, the reason RW hasnt had these issues become prevalent is partly because outside of moogle time it receives little to no activity therefor not much need for attention to complain/criticize

    No one single change will outright fix Frontlines, but if I sat here and elaborated on how all of the little aspects of the mode and how people play it interact with and effect one another, I'd be writing a very long post. I have been tempted to do that, but I always end up asking myself what the point is when I know very few people will even care enough to think about or engage with it beyond just demanding that pre-mades be removed, or whatever the gripe-of-the-week is at that moment. For the sake of not derailing the thread, I'll leave it at that. It's just on my wishlist.

    Outside of individual job design and balance (which, mind, isn't a fault of Frontlines OR Rival Wings, as jobs are designed around Crystal Conflict), I have not experienced a single of Frontline's prominent issues in Rival Wings when I played during the last moogle tomestone event, when it was having an influx of players. To imply that people just haven't noticed or talked about these due to supposed lack of activity or interest is a little wild.

    Rival Wings doesn't suffer from tick-rate issues to the degree you see in Frontlines, because the servers aren't struggling to keep up with the lower player count. The annoying damage reduction modifiers aren't in place in RW, because the lower player count largely removes the need for them being warranted.

    Players aren't mindlessly scampering around or idling in spawn not knowing what to do, because the more focused static objectives guarantee you always know where you're meant to be going, and a single glance at the map can tell you immediately where you're most needed. When there's only two places you could possibly be going to PTFO, odds are high that you'll be PTFO...ing.

    (Also as an aside, RW's lower player count means the people who tend to be playing it REALLY want to play it; they're there to win. AFK's/leeches didn't seem to be as tolerated in my time playing, as opposed to FL where you'd be lucky if your team can even be bothered to respond to a vote to kick idlers.)
