Please do not "fix" this. We permanently brought life back to the edge of the universe and the song reflects that monumental change. It would be absurd to revert the song to its incomplete version - and yes, that's exactly what it is. The chilling reverb is symbolic of the dead and forgotten wasteland of Ultima Thule while the finished song represents the everlasting resurrection of the zone through the dynamis of the scions. Asking for this to be fixed is like asking for the Doman Enclave to visually revert to its original pre-developed state because you personally preferred the rundown houses for some reason. It is OK for our actions to have permanent, visible and in this case audible reflections on the game's environments.

This is a very valid argument, and likely why the devs kept things the way they are. But hopefully you can also see the side of those who would still like to experience this track without having to venture into newgame+. Their are multiple musical compositions in the game that can only be experienced during certain points in the MSQ, or if they release the orchestrion scrolls (not as effective) for them. The Doman enclave, Vauthry's Eulmore, the radio tune in Garlemald, and pre final days Thavnair to name a few. These are still beautiful pieces of music in their own right, and make visiting these zones more enjoyable.

It is entirely possible to have the music shift to these while exploring certain parts of the map very similar to when we enter the regions where tribe quests are given. It doesn't have to be a day/night thing. Try not to think in absolutes.

I agree - the fact that there is no orchestration is totally inexcusable, although I'm unsure which version they would choose because there are a few states of the incomplete song. The one I see people ask for the most is just the original totally unaltered version that plays as soon as you step outside in Ultima Thule. They could just dump it in the gemstone trader shop and call it a day. Maybe it's on the backburner and will be done eventually.

This is my view as well, although I think every song should have an orchestration.

No one ever implied it was a "fix".
The song itself is fine, and what it represents is also fine.
But it makes a terrible background music, and makes you get sick of the song.
I think it'd be fine if it didn't include the vocals personallly, a good compromise could be made of playing the original song at night, and Close in the Distance during day like others have suggested.

But mainly I just miss Echoes in the Distance.
I've been waiting for an orchestration roll of the song since I first entered the zone, I'm just trying to make some noise in hopes it is actually implemented since I feel once DT releases the chances of it actually happening will probably be near zero.

You can't dismiss someone's objection with "no one ever implied it was a 'fix'" while also saying "it's terrible background music" and then "change it". You're straight up saying that it should be changed (your compromise IS a change) and Caro is saying "no, it's fine" and I agree with her.

She still has a point. The current BGM for Ultima Thule and the lyrics is felt the strongest when it plays for the first time after you get to a certain point in the MSQ. It loses its luster a bit when you zone into UT and it just plays all the time afterwards. I think my previous suggestion with the BGM changing when you're traversing certain parts of the map would be good here, and this version plays only when hovering around the ascension ramps leading up to the Dead Sun.

I won't spoil anything for you, but I suggest doing the Omnicron tribal quests.

I don't think anyone would deny that a thematic change doesn't take place. Hell, we probably wouldn't even be having this discussion if the song were simply an instrumental in a major key, or otherwise more "uplifting." Just, the swelling vocals, on loop, is kinda a bad song decision, long term. Background music is meant to be that: background. Fills the ambiance. As is, it just slams to the forefront to be as distracting as possible.

Just because we brought hope back to Ultima Thule, doesn't mean it can't have a version of the song without the lyrics. Most of XIV's zones don't have background music where the lyrics are this overly present, simply because those are just better for extended visits to a specific zone. They could easily have an instrumental version playing during the Eorzean daytime hours, Echos during the Eorzean nighttime hours, and the lyrics version playing at the bridge/final area.

The Omicron tribal quests goes over the creation of a new star in Ultima Thule, which kinda throws a wrench into the whole "everything's just a recreation" thing that the zone's MSQ trip gave off.

Damn. I thought I might get away with being surprised at the third Tribal. Hadn't seen that unlocked yet. Thanks. =/ (but also, nah, not really, I was preeettty sure I remembered seeing/reading something about them in patch notes long ago).
