Final Fantasy 14 is an MMO, first and foremost.
I manage multiple characters and I skipped most cut scenes on all play throughs including the first.
Even Shadow Bringer's MSQ was meaningless to me.

If they run ahead and wipe because they didn't wait for someone in cs that's there fault and can't feel sorry for them. Never rush start boss fights. Like today wiped in Labyrinth of the Ancients because one rushed in and started it before all teams could get to there area for the pads so Team A's side had everyone but 2 in it and team B area had zero in it.

Interesting, I did not realize it was considered rude to be in a cut scene. Note to self, beware future cut scenes.
Devils advocate.
One might say its equally as rude if not more so to not get to the arena at the same time as everyone else.. If 19 of the 24 people made it in time why didn't the other 5???
It's generally considered rude to be late after all.
The issue here is for all the content XIV has it also has none. Which is why players are doing roulette of years old raids and content on a daily basis and why they generally want to be in and out as fast as possible.
I get locked out from time to time and I mostly attribute it to me being slow rather than someone pulling early. Because as above if 20-23 other people were there in time. Then why wasn't I?
Sounds like your problem, and no one else's. But in referring to many's comments in this old thread, cut scenes are rude. o7

New Alliance Raids get added to DR:Mentor immediately, but they don't get added to DR:AllianceRaids until the next major patch (the even numbered normal raid patch).Actually, the most recently added 24-man is not put into the roulette, as was the case with the Ivalice raids. It was only when then next raid was introduced that the prior one was put into the roulette. I do not know if the Nier raids will follow that same system, but just clarifying you on that one point.

Cutscenes important to the story happen after final boss of a dungeon. Pre-fight cutscenes are all about flashy entrance and menacing flex. For the flow of gameplay they may as well not exist. The only important pre-battle cutscenes I can think of are in Praetorium, but you can't skip those.

Watch your cutscene and deal with the consequences, why should 23 people wait two minutes?
No one will call you out for watching it, and you are invulnerable when you get teleported into the fight.
I am not criticizing the presentation of the bosses, but in a multiplayer game where people have to run dungeons/raids multiple times during their playtime, it is a really bad design choice to make people watch cutscenes.

In the four years since the post you've quoted, it's neither rude to be in one, or is it rude to engage without waiting.
Very rarely does a player ever go into an instance once and only once. They'll get the first few minutes of the fight that second time around.

The world doesn't revolve around you, and it's silly to make 24 other people wait several minutes for you.
