Speaking as a somewhat hardcore raider, I do plan to farm out the totems, but I don't intend to use them until the tome weapons are easier to get, possibly not even until next patch
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
This is what bothers me the most. I don't care that a shiny 665 tome weapon with the exact same stats as the P12S weapon is locked behind Criterion Savage.
- Criterion Normal is still completely ignored, which is a major point of feedback. Allow us to get tome armor augments from there considering we need the gear to even enter Criterion(Savage) at the higher item level we do. This would also tremendously help gear alt jobs.
- On release we STILL would need to get the augment through savage normal raids in order to augment the weapon, which is missing the point of us being able to use this content as an alternate source of gearing entirely. Either allow us to get tome weapon augments (i.e 650-660) through Criterion Normal or allow us to augment it on odd numbered patches on release with the alliance raid currency. The former would likely be better as it would feel like there's more of a sense of progression with that content in particular (especially if the variant/criterion dungeon releases during an even numbered patch).
But it
1. Requires you to have a tome weapon
2. Requires you to be able to upgrade said tome weapon to 660, meaning you need to be able to clear P11S (at which point you might as well just finish the raid tier and get the savage weapon)
3. Requires you to then, most likely, prog through Criterion normal and then clear Criterion savage
It completely ignores what the criticism about Criterion was, ties the new weapon to both types of already existing endgame gearing content and does basically nothing to fix the low participation rate and incredibly short life cycle of normal Criterion.
It's actually insulting that you can get a shiny blue mage weapon from gameplay that blu cannot, and will not be allowed to participate in.
Guys, I just talked to some of the rewards. They think you suck too.
The fact its behind savage sucks yes. But why are people like "omg why is blue glam in content it can't even do!?!".
Try getting all TT cards and tell me how that goes.
Criterion (Savage) honestly shouldn't even exist.
Because what we've got right now is really Criterion (Savage) and Criterion(Savage)(Savage).
Should've stuck with Variant and Criterion. Two Difficulty Modes. Thats it. This Criterion Savage and Another *insert dungeon name* nonsense is so confusing. Why did they complicate the whole content process like this?
my uncharitable take is that they just did it to make it seem like they put out more content than they actually have >.>
