I'm sorry, do you genuinely think you're one of the only people who has levelled multiple alts and raised gil across the board for a shot at their preferred housing?

You forgot the other steps I mentioned. Had a person taken all of them, they would have a mansion.

And yes, you still lucked out; you even point out yourself you took advantage of being around at the right time when the housing switch happened and new wards were added, and you were fortunate not to have any other bids on it.

Choosing to subscribe for years without breaks isn't luck. You started in 2015 like me and had the same opportunity which you didn't seize. The bids were all mine because I placed them early and I placed enough so that other large plots had fewer bids. That's not luck, but strategy. Obviously there are players who only started playing after 6.3, however new players have the option to wait until the next ward release just like I waited.

And again, larges were 3 per ward because they were FC only, ridiculously expensive and it was predicted that very few players would even shoot for them because of the immense amount of effort/ money required for what was effectively a glorified gil sink at the time with very little to them.

Isgard housing was released in Endwalker and it still had 3 larges per ward despite the fact that many players can now afford them, so mansions being reserved for the few is intended by the developers.
