I mean a whole lot of FFXI's story revolves around mothercrystals and ancients civilizations. It should be reminiscent of something in FFXIV....

As for the topic at hand, I really hope we'll see promyvions, sky and sea.

It's called Style Lock, and as long as you have the job leveled, you can style lock any of its unique gear onto other jobs.

Of course, this has lead some folks to style lock WHM robes while on DRK and such, and it's really rather tacky.

And there's an equal amount of folks who style lock the costumes, just like in XIV people glam the frog costume or the pig costume etc. But in XI it's like, a Bahamut outfit, a Mandragora outfit, and a Goblin outfit. There's also some basic bitch T shirts and jeans you can get now.

There's soooo much potential, but it's wasted. Some people don't even use style lock, which is weird, because it's an in game way that finally allows your character to not blink out of being targetable when they swap gear, without the use of third party tools, and this can be pivotal when you're with real people and the healer is trying to target you.

Really hoping it'll be an in-world version like Ivalice. Those raids felt like they made sense within the world of XIV, while Nier's existence felt very inorganic and nonsensical even for a crossover.

It'd be especially cool if they linked it back to Eureka and had the unused zone be incorporated into one of the raids.

I feel the exact opposite, I'd hate to just find some fake alternate Tavnazia on Hydaelyn somewhere and that's it. I don't know what making sense in the world of XIV is even supposed to mean post Shadowbringers, we've been to other worlds. We've been to Ultima Thule, the furthest-away place in existence. We should be able to go to a full-fledged Vana'diel, whether it's a shard or something else, and have it make as much sense as anywhere else we've been.

I hope they add a whole pile of orchestrion rolls for this crossover.

    - Battalia Downs (my favorite song on the OST)
    - Rolanberry Fields
    - Selbina
    - Heavens Tower
    - Sanctuary of Zi'tah

I would like those zones or the wings of the goddess past versions of those zones for raids. Or have walk of echoes or promivions but walk of echoes might be too similar to the void.

That is when the true Vana'diel of legend will be reborn.

No, theyve integrated the world of Ivalive pretty well and its extremely jarring and boring to have something that is completely disconnected from the game itself, like Nier.

Which is the reason a majority didnt care or like the Nier raid story. I want a version of Tavnazia or any of the kingdoms to exist or HAVE existed in the past of Etheirys.

It would make sense too considering the numerous calamities where various kingdoms and civilizations fell in all parts of the world. This is how they could tie a version of Vanadiel to have existed or heck be the first civilization to have rose up post Sundering in the Source and the birth of the races (sans Au Ra, Hroth and Viera lol)

I really can't understate how mad I'll be if they make Vana'diel a mere shard of Etheirys. It was around first, and has a better creation mythos with a TRUE goddess watching over it. Unlike Etheirys, which has a very troubled past.

But given how frequent the interdimensional travel and alternate timelines and things became in WoTG and beyond (Abysssea, Voidwatch, Seekers of Adoulin etc), it shouldn't be hard at all for us to slip through a dimensional crack and wind up in Vana'diel proper.

As far as major bosses go, the Caturae are a shoe in.

I could see them bringing in the real Provenance Watcher, and not the Eureka fake one.

Ark Angels would be cool, but the new races in XIV probably feel left out if they do use'em lol.

Shadowlord could be cool. Especially if it's some sorta XIV Dynamis version, since he did become the Dynamis Lord.

I want them to use Promyvions/Apollyon or Temenos, but if they do and don't use the Empty mobs... some of which they already made Fungus moon monsters in XIV... idk how they'll retell what those are in XI's context.

I can see them reusing Omega and Ultima from XI, as they look different enough to cause questions. Omega up on 3 legs be pretty scary!

They've already used some of the Archaia from ToAU in different spots in XIV. The Archaic Gears are from Omicrons. A Chariot was used in Alzadaal's Legacy as the second boss, but in XI, these were control clusters for Alexander's original body parts.

We're obviously getting Gulool Jaja referenced for a second time in XIV, and Medusa was already referenced. They have yet to pull in Gurfurlur the Menacing and the Trolls though.

They haven't given us Pandemonium Warden yet, not the Dvergr model from XI as far as I'm aware. We've gotten NMs named after some of the Dvergrs, but they have the model of the emo voidsent from Weeping City afair.

Iron Giants from XI would be another shoe in for bosses. Big and memorable and making NIN sub useless.

Promathia, XI's Shinryu, Lady Lilith, and the Spitewardens are also kind of candidates. But then that makes me wonder, because 24 mans usually have giant bosses, and Lilith and the Spitewardens are player sized.

Thinking along those lines, a buncha Voidwatch monsters are shoe ins. Though some of them have already been referenced, and some of them have even been relegated to dungeon trash mob lol.

So we really gotta turn towards Seekers of Adoulin's Wildskeeper reive monsters and then perhaps the Sinister Reign/Story mobs made larger.

It'll be interesting to me whatever they decide to do. But man am I worried they're just gonna cement me in bitterness and hatred if they fuck it up.

I would just recommend you set yourself up to not being hyped and hating it. With this team, I guarantee you wont be pleased :c

The problem I have with this approach is the fact that Iroha being sent here by Altana across dimensions and Shantotto coming on her own have already been established. It would be so weird having a version of Vana’diel like we have a version of Ivalice since we already had characters cross over from the original.

I also don’t see how our version of Ivalice isn’t jarring considering the timeline is backwards and they made a husband and wife as twins. FFXI revolves around Altana, Promathia, and their own version of Ancients and either having Vana’diel be a shard or pieces of it just randomly placed on empty sections of the map will mean entire parts of its story just aren’t possible anymore since they can’t exist in a world with Hydaelyn.

If they feel the need to do a Vana’diel raid, I’d rather it be the proper one than a knock-off since that’s the only way to do it justice. IIRC, one of the ideas behind Tanaka’s vision of 1.0 was for the two worlds to be loosely connected to each other anyway.
