Alliance Raid Now iLvl Locked, Why??

I feel you misunderstood me. I can't queue for Alliance Roulette anymore on any of my level 90s even though my gear is good enough to complete all the roulettes I've unlocked, up to ShB.

Buying gear off the MB is not a solution, I want them to add additional checks for where in the MSQ a player is and which raids they've unlocked. I'm not against trying to stop ilvl cheesers.

Right now, someone can finish Endwalker, only unlock CT, get some gear and queue and force CT on everyone anyway.

But I can't queue, because my gear is Cryptlurker and haven't completed Endwalker even though it's been working just fine for four years.

How is this fix working as intended?

Ah, I did misunderstand, yes. I thought you were suggesting people just get cryptlurker gear.

You're asking for the same thing I am. The fix is working the same way the patch notes describe, so it's as 'intended' as far as we can tell, the intention is just a badly designed fix.

A player who finished Endwalker, geared to the appropriate level 90 who only unlocked CT will be able to queue Alliance Roulette and will get CT.

A player who overleveled and hasn't completed Endwalker, (or whatever other expansion they are, level 80 but still in SB etc.) cannot queue for any Alliance Roulette at all, despite having multiple raids unlocked and appropriate gear to complete any of those raids.

How is this working as intended? How does it stop ilvl cheesing? I could go buy a boost for an alt, get 560whatever gear it is, unlock one raid and just queue for it, but a main character can't queue for all the raids because their gear is below the defined gear for level 90? Even though they're not in level 81-90 content at all yet?

You are right, it is only a temporary solution.

Since the ilvl cheesers had probably most unlocked cause they could just ilvl cheese before it will help for a while.

But as new people pour in, some will learn about this, and just not unlock raids. To give ct to everybody still.

So at some point i see them also, slapping a restriction of having the raids unlocked for how far you are in story.

so that you will need to unlock them once you can, otherwise you can't queue either.

Which will be even more restrictions, but like what happened here, if that happens. You got to blame those people for the restrictions not square.

Without people intentionally doing everything they can to get only ct and send 23 others with them. We would never have needed this .

Edit : read your other comments and it seems like we both are on same page, that it will not fully work to stop those people unless extra checks are implemented to make sure they got all raids unlocked that they can do .

They were going for the easiest solution under several assumptions. That roulettes is something max level players do because they are bribed by tomes, that people focus on the MSQ first and foremost and that people are willing to unlock the content that is in the game. The only true solution to the complaints that CT is boring is to make CT raids more interesting.

Imagine hitting level 90 early, and you're locked out of Alliance Raid roulette until you finish Endwalker and do every raid in the game.

Or heck, let's say you accidentally hit 60 during ARR content, and you want tome gear. Whoops, can't get it -- at least not through roulette. Say goodbye to daily roulette bonus and grind manually for tomes. It's your own fault for... playing the game, I guess.

Ah yes.... because level 50 roulette and main scenario roulette are also blocked off from you and eliminate you from being able to acquire poetics, and you don't have any access to the market board if you did want to do alliance raid roulette...

Personally, I see no problem with people being temporarily barred from just one roulette for the day once they've gotten themselves that far beyond the level cap for the content they're currently playing.

Blocked off, no. But Alliance Roulette gave 120 poetics or something like that? Plus the occasional new player bonus?

You personally see no problem with a player receiving less currency for playing the game more because it doesn't affect you.

I guess I am confused about what you are trying to accomplish here.

If the job is level 90, you arent doing it for XP.

If you want poetics, you could just run the raid DR with an alt job to collect xp and poetics. It's only a once a day thing.

Never claimed poetics are an issue for me, was simply responding to the user claiming it's not an issue, because it doesn't affect them.

As for me, it really depends on my mood. Sometimes I queue on a job that I just find easier to play. I mentioned in a previous posts Alliance Roulette as RDM was easier during Moogle Tome event than NIN.

That doesn't change the fact that the fix was poorly thought out and they should address it. If they did this but 1,5 years ago I would've been affected even more severely.

I think its just them making AR be an endgame roulette now rather than a common one anyone at any level or ilv can run. Thats most likely the intention.

But you are right it is a little troublesome because we also do have new players in non- Road to 80 buff servers that would like that exp reward/poetics on alt jobs anyway.

Now Im really confused.

Im a returning player and started a new character to relearn all my jobs.

I havent had an issue queing for Alliance raids, and I have everything up to Puppets bunker unlocked.

Granted, its only been 2 days, but Ive gotten CT (Of course) and Ivalice.

Im not sure where the issue is, but maybe you (Erzaa) should submit a petition to make sure your character isnt bugged.
