I feel you misunderstood me. I can't queue for Alliance Roulette anymore on any of my level 90s even though my gear is good enough to complete all the roulettes I've unlocked, up to ShB.

Buying gear off the MB is not a solution, I want them to add additional checks for where in the MSQ a player is and which raids they've unlocked. I'm not against trying to stop ilvl cheesers.

Right now, someone can finish Endwalker, only unlock CT, get some gear and queue and force CT on everyone anyway.

But I can't queue, because my gear is Cryptlurker and haven't completed Endwalker even though it's been working just fine for four years.

How is this fix working as intended?

Ah, I did misunderstand, yes. I thought you were suggesting people just get cryptlurker gear.

You're asking for the same thing I am. The fix is working the same way the patch notes describe, so it's as 'intended' as far as we can tell, the intention is just a badly designed fix.

They were going for the easiest solution under several assumptions. That roulettes is something max level players do because they are bribed by tomes, that people focus on the MSQ first and foremost and that people are willing to unlock the content that is in the game. The only true solution to the complaints that CT is boring is to make CT raids more interesting.

    2 solutions:
    - ilvl scaling becomes stricter for these: With lower ilvls, damage output of players is reduced, and enemies do more effective damage to players. (easy to apply, but doesnt entirely solve it)
    - More up to date mechanics (harder to apply, but makes the biggest diffirence)

There are quite a bit of mechanics that are fine (although a bit too easy in many cases). And some are even unique enough that they never repeated (team A having to stand on a platform to let team B to damage). But those fights are often meaningless as that is then just the only mechanic. And it feels like its just a filler. We also have seen several fights where even though teams mostly play as 1, they still have their own responses, and plenty of fights where the 3 groups were effectively meaningless, but the fight itself simply having more to dodge.

To me the most notible CT fight (and the one i like most) is the eye. Its many death mechanics, and while some parts arent entirely clear, are enough to still cause an occasional wipe. Even if most of it is effectively ignorable, the bits that do matter hurt enough to get players to at least act upon those mechanics. But most CT fights arent like that. There is barely any mechanics that matter, outside of the clear insta kill oriented ones.

A mechanic that for example could work: Team A gets a spread (aoe circle) mechanic (moderate damage, but 2 of these overlapping are enough to kill), team B gets a chain to C that they must disconnect (in both cases it causes A, B and C to spread, and overlap). Upon failing this, players take heavy damage and a stun (which you can esuna!). The boss then charges up an attack to hit the floor below those that were stunned (either insta kill, or extremely heavy damage - it will have to demand healer to act!). Its simple enough to resolve (and that part is noticed), and still unlikely to cause any wipes, but its many death potential forces players to perform it. The stun duration could even be decided upon chain length (so for slightly shorter chains there is less time to respond, yet still easily survivable)

Make fights meaningfull by having such sort of mechanics. Even if other than that you can still easily survive and take bosses out quickly, failing to do mechanics should hurt. And if some are skippable thats fine, as long as plenty of them arent, and those being meaningfull. Its about giving players the idea that they have to do the mechanics to survive, and potentialy give them the fealing of being able to 'cheat' the mechanics (even if by design). It gives players the feeling of control, and therefor makes fights more fun.

Fights purely about dps output are boring.
