Legitimate reasons why many of you do NOT like Gear Swapping

Gear Swapping is common in RPGs.

Not really. In most RPGs, both offline and online, it is usually impossible to change gears mid-fight. At most, a player may be able to swap out weapons, but not change entire sets of gear mid-fight.

FFXI was the stark exception to this rule, as players could change gears at any time, which led to massive min-maxing.

Gear swapping is possible ingame, if you only want to switch your gear and not your class/job during a fight

of course your party members kill the enemy before your gear swapping is finished, but this is another story.

Alot of times you were hit with some sort of penalty too. Like with turn based RPG's most of the time you lost a turn on that character.

The way I see it, what they should do now is reintroduce that gear-change penalty that seems to have gone away or simply make it impossible to change gear when you are considered in-battle similar to how the teleports/returns are.

That way, DoW players aren't tempted any further by the DoMs that are practicing such gear-swaps.

Lets get real, the truth is gear swapping in ANY game (fyi there are only like 4 games that even allow it) has very marginal benefit that is some ppl's opinion isn't worth the hassel.

If in your opinon it is worth the hassel, then fine do it, but if you think I SHOULD do it then you have crossed into D-bag land...

Descartes came to an incomplete conclusion, IMO. My laptop doesn't think, yet it very much does exist or you would not be reading this post. The only way one can prove to themselves that they exist is through thought, I will agree with him there. While Descartes conducted a very interesting thought experiment indeed, his conclusions are chock full of circular logic that doesn't add up as soon as it is analyzed objectively.

It isn't a tough concept. It isn't even complex. To respond to a comment about Descartes' circular logic musings, some of which make sense when applied in some measure, you used circular logic for a response..... I think you totally just verified what Molly said. That pains me as I'm usually at odds with Molly.

I need a logically sound argument as to why you do not want gear swapping.

Someone said, "it promotes elitism".

I say gear swapping is beneficial for SE, the worlds' economies, and game play.


BTW Mages can gear swap, melee can't. You have a flaw SE. Fix it and give us gear swapping in ACTIVE mode.

Kinda like what you perceive as normal may be entirely different from what I perceive as normal, so it ends up all being a matter of context?
