I would generally view forums, especially one marked as a General subsection of a forum, as a place for entertainment as well, however YoshiP/Squeen shot themselves in the foot with that one and designated the forums as the place to go to provide feedback. Personally, I've always felt that providing feedback in a public space of any kind only invites public censorship and creates discord in a given community due to the resulting disagreements for any one feedback provided.
In fact, the things I assume they were trying to do by telling their players to provide feedback in the forums, was to (1) invite public censorship so that people would inevitably filter each other (and their opinions) out, (2) prevent non-players from being able to provide feedback on the game, and (3) try to (haha) reduce the amount of feedback, shitposting, and videos/pictures surrounding the game that could potentially affect their (marketing) "image" viewable by the public (aka potential customers).
And so here we are, suffering because of their choices through conflict in ideological organization, in what should be a place for your entertainment and leisure.
No, not quite to you specifically, but more to a kind of poster at large. You know, the kind who think they're hot shit for having an undercooked thought used as a jab at people who are, honestly, just trying to enjoy their game just as much as, or more than those doing the jabbing. If you are replying specifically to me, I've understood this for quite a while. Nothing new here. I think we are just discussing different types of posters.
Fair enough, but MisterNublet is quite right about the squeaky wheel. Considering the Dev's lack of engagement with the forums and acknowledgement, I can see where you're coming from but that's not a good reason for the complaints, no matter how incessant or from whom, to stop unless they're intentionally being used to disrupt the forums (at which point, the report button becomes appropriate, or you just ignore them).I mean, there is a ton of threads on this forum I purposely skip entirely. So yes, there is quite a bit I already choose not to interact with. There are so many complaints where I've seen and heard it all before and don't bother replying. Here we are just discussing things in general, and it's something I felt like posting. (And no, of course I did not mean that you can only post once and never again. That would be rather extreme. I'm sorry if that's what you thought I was implying.)
There really is something to be said about the dissatisfaction that crops up specifically about negative feedback provided, and the gatekeeping that happens around what is acceptable and unacceptable feedback (see my comments above for my feelings on providing feedback in a public forum), and, although healthy discussion is difficult to have with the constant tribalism, at this point, I'd say it's basically just a modern High School Senior/undergrad essay version of XIV's pvp. If you can avoid falling into one of the tribes and just discuss the merits of a point, rather than the person making it, you're usually golden as far as I can tell. Everything else is just backwash from the corpse of Twitter. Or Renathras, who may be trying to obtain a master's in forum combat.
