If you are the type of poster who is offended at the "play other games" suggestion and view it as anyone "defending" the game rather than just asking a common sense question, perhaps you just need to look inward at your own posting behavior.

I've criticized the game here on numerous occasions on a variety of topics, and have never once had someone tell me to play something else. It's how you deliver feedback and your general disposition on the forums. If someone notices a person spending months posting 40-60 times a day via alts about how "trash" FFXIV is, and speaking ill on just about every single aspect of the game - the common sense question is "why do you sub then?" Simple as that.

Only to disgruntled FFXIV players is daring to suggest someone play something they DO enjoy instead of a game they don't enjoy considered some grave logical fallacy. It's bizarre.

- EDF 6 HOPEFULLY soon
- I've been replaying Fallout 3 in the New Vegas engine, very fun as well.

On main topic, Mao loves FFXIV very much but Mao has big list of wants for making game more funs. List includes: GW2 style systems of Storage, Dyes and Glams; Improve PVP System whats more balanced; More midcore contents for players whats want little bits more challenge; Exploration to become more significants and rewardings; And last but CERTAINLY nots least, a more robust housings system that will allow housings for ALL AND makes that housings with more options and detailings. Now, this does nots mean Mao dislike FFXIV. Just means Mao thinkings game could be betters.

LOL, wouldn't really use minions, mounts, and god forbid achievements as being indicative of anything, given that argument could quite literally be turned on its head against just as many people that complain, as to those that also 'defend'. Could quite easily say there are people complaining about having nothing to do when they arguably barely even touch the game. Just LOL

I mean you know who I am, and I can at least vouch for myself that I actually have tried most of the content before making any critique of it. Of course there are many criticizing the game who do nothing in the game, but every criticism I make comes from actual understanding of what the content is.

You're right thought, that it's both sides. I simply discount opinions from people defending the game if they have done nothing in the game, and quite frankly there is also literally no point in talking to them about anything since they most of the time can't even begin to comprehend some of the criticisms people make. At least with the criticizers I'm going to assume they've tried the content once and didn't complete it since they found it dull. I just go a step further to complete it before I make any judgment.

I can only speak for myself but I only comment on/complain about issues and other peoples' complaints if I understand what the issue actually is.

Look at how absolutely useless posts #2-#4 and #6 are. That's 90% of the forums, whether they defend or criticize the game.

As a tangent, the uselessness of most forum posts, made by a legion of players who opine about the game while probably playing it for 20 minutes every 8 months or something, is why I never took most people seriously here, and I rarely take the forums seriously either.

There's now a contingent of forum users, many of whom are posting in this thread, who literally have never made a single meaningful contribution to threads and are just here for the defender vs. criticizer drama. How can anyone take them seriously? I think sometimes they deserve to be trolled.

For housing mmos, as weird as it sounds, I loved Star Wars: The Old Republic. Housing was for everyone, was easy to get into, and the houses were massive. Of course, you don't have the really nice looking furniture like we have in FFXIV though, so everything looks ..not as good.

Yes, I do know exactly who you are - But that isn't the point as I wasn't really referring to you personally with this one. Just the fact that your point could be turned in quite literally any direction to quite literally 90% of people in the game, as ultimately most people in an MMO will only touch a subset of what the game has to offer.

A lot of people will only ever live vicariously on the experiences of other people when it comes to either making a critique or complementing the game, it applies pretty universally, that's the point, really.

You can discard opinions however you like, it's your own prerogative, in fact that's probably better. No one should take anything seriously on the forums. Most knowledgeable players and guide creators never even post here and this place is seen as a joke.

I'm just bored of /r/ffxivdiscussion since it's overrun by Cutie-Shutin and FuminaMyLove. Come to think of it, /r/ffxivdiscussion is probably worse than the forums now since in most threads, the arguments are regurgitated arguments from the dawn of humanity, it only looks better because people are discussing seriously, but there has been no new ideas from that sub for a while now. It almost just reads like ChatGPT in that sub (and no, not because ChatGPT is trained on Reddit, but because that sub is now just 50 different people reciting the same argument with different words these days). At least aveyond's threads here have fresh ideas even if it's weird.

Agreed. I've never understood the mentality that there is something wrong or disloyal in playing another game. This is entertainment, not a relationship. If you're bored there are options. And you know what? FF XIV will still be here when you come back.
