Keep the same drop rates and costs but let us pass weapons. Will satisfy people and help build a good, generous community.

Even a confirmation that loot like this wont exist in 2.0 wont exist would do me. I remember the original justification was they didn't want "Point systems" to emerge like in EVERY SINGLE OTHER MMO in history so they made the loot drop to random people without a chance to pass to avoid the "Drama".
But if this is how you solve that problem....I want my problem back.
Math time!
100% Totem Rate = 1 Totem / Run
Each run takes 15 minutes + 15 minute wait. Therefore:
2 Totems/ Hour.
10 Totems/weapon (reflecting latest update that this will stay at 10). Therefore:
10 Totems / 5 hours. In other words: Every 5 hours, you get a weapon of YOUR choice.
If you are not a 'hard core' or 'must collect everything' adventurer, and only want 1-3 weapons for your main jobs, you could be done after 15 hours of play time.
If you want it all, it would be 35 hours of play time (7 * 5).
Please note: This excludes counting the number of drops you would get whilst collecting totems. 70 Totems = 70 Runs, and a drop rate of 1 per 35 runs, means you will have a full set and two extras after 35 hours of fighting iffy.
If this were mimiced for Moogle and Gardua, we would be looking at: 35 * 3 = 105 hours for a full set of 7 (plus some random drops along the way).
105 hours can be completed in a fortnight if you do this about 10 hours per day, or a month if you do 5 hours per day. (This is reasonable for serious adventurers... for casual or those who do not need/want it all, it can obviously be done quicker or easier).
The question then to ask is:
Is the intent that it should be possible to get all primal weapons within a month?
If Yes, then the primal weapons are by no means 'special'.
If No, then the drop rate must be adjusted accordingly.
The next question to ask:
Should drop rate be adjusted to satisfy those who demand to collect everything, or those who only want what they 'need' (main job, etc.). The rate should be adjusted to benefit the majority or the minority?
The final thing to say is:
'What we want'... no, please, do not suggest that this what we all want ^.^; If you ask what *I* want.. well, that's easy and very simple... to stop seeing so many people complain about everything ^.^;;;
Anyways, I'd rather have more Hildibrand content than Primal Drops.....
The whole point of the thread is that anyone who wants item to be passable to be voted up. If it's not what you want don't like the post. You can post your own solution and ask people to like it up so SE can see what options the players want.
The title isn't saying "We want subject title" It's asking the community what they want, along with my own opinion on the subject. There is no forcing of opinions here it's a very simple "Do you agree? yes/no and why?". So feel free to not like the post if you don't think that's the proper solution but my post will remain as the "Let us pass drops" option.
100% drop rate totem, but increase the amount needed accordingly. At least it's a progress every win instead of luck based.
The Yes/No is not specific enough in this situation ; ;. Although I can see an argument made to make things passable, I would only see this justified if the drop rate was changed to take this into considertion (which was not made as part of the option in the poll). The whole point of the thread is that anyone who wants item to be passable to be voted up. If it was more along the lines of:
Make item drops passable, but then change all drop rates to be lower to accommodate this (in theory, reduce drop rate to 1/7th).
(Otherwise, one person goes in and can in essence have 8 opportunities to get 'his axe' if he convinces/pays everyone ahead of time to drop the item to him).
But I do appreciate your earnest attempt to try and get some real opinions and suggestions in a nice form factor.
you are forgeting one factor in your equation...Math time!

how much ''~#{@ are players willing to put up with before they stop playing.
This is good from a psychological point of view. If the rate is supposed to be, say, 1/50, and there is 50 totems needed per item, then there would be almost balance (there would be balance if ONLY totems and no weapons dropped).
But then it could remove the good-feel about: ooooh, I got a pretty weapon!
