Good for you, and it was done by sacrificing all the content for veterans in the game. There are many other games that have also come out in the past ten years…
The only reason I’ve even played as much of this game as I have is exactly because the devs are explicitly prioritizing the experience of the new player’s journey through the game over the whims of the hardcore endgame raid meta.
Which is itself not a good long term strategy for the game. The veterans are the ones who evangelize the game and get new people to play. The whole free trial copypasta didn't come from nowhere.
I don't believe for a second that they believe what they are posting. Just posting lazy contrarian takes for the sake of it.
Hopefully, if Zepla's video has done anything, it's actually made people aware that its actually not a very tiny small minority of players that are not happy with the direction and current state of FFXIV. I don't hate the game, I love FFXIV. But there are current issues that need to be addressed. And, seriously, if you are saying its all good cause there's Stb and Shb content you can do.... I mean, really?!? Do you not see the issue in that?
"There will be losses, that is true.
Yet for every veteran who unsubs, another new player can be indoctrinated.
For every FC that dies, another dance club venue can be built.
FFXIV will live on."
This unempathetic guy is insufferable though, honestly. Enjoying the misery of others, particularly when the foundation is of a strawman of their own creation compared to the reality of a nuanced and complicated situation with no easy solution, is emblematic of a mean-spirited individual. If you told me in SB/ShB we'd be in a situation like this, constantly dealing with people like this, I would've called you unnecessarily paranoid. Shows what I knew.

It's literally not what they said. They didn't say "you cant run out of backlog". They literally said:
Yeah, they didn't.
So it's not just me, you guys outright make up things you want other people to have said so you can attack weaker arguments than presented. The classic strawman fallacy. I'm not sure if I should feel better or worse that I'm not the only one you guys invent things to attack over.
This is the correct take.
It's not. Some specific posters are inventing things to accuse people of having said so they can attack and "defeat" those weak arguments. It's a straight up strawman fallacy and deception.
.
EDIT: You know the funny thing? I don't even agree with that person - I think having some long-term grindy content is good. But they're absolutely being unfairly attacked.

People like you are why I’ve avoided the entire MMORPG genre since I played EverQuest at launch. You aren’t that damn nuanced. The only reason I am playing FF14 is because there isn’t a levelgrind -> endgame mentality apart from a small and very vocal minority. The OP of this thread has posted about ten threads in the past week, but I’m the problem lmao. Keep on gatekeeping on, kiddos.

?
You can literally do ANYTHING you want in the game, there is no gatekeeping anywhere
