Those particular words were not mine; they were quoted. Your own argument doesn't negate the fact that use of DBM in WoW raiding is a crutch if it is required per the words of player Mcg55ss.
Are you one of those snobs who insist that your own misreading of a post implies someone never played World of Warcraft? I'm asking for someone who spent 10 years playing the game.

For some reason, i always play the game like crazy during January and July. Later on i chill and play something else like Warframe. Probably the next year will be different.

I'd get payday 3 if not for Denuvo.OH SHOOT I forgot that got announced.
Payday is great...just hope they dont get lazy with it because the whole budget goes into graphics and the Cash Shop.
I wonder how many Articles the game will spawn as well...the 2020s are gonna be a brutal decade for violent games XD
Depends on how technical we want to get. If you’ve been playing wow as long as you claim (about as long as I have) you’d not be arguing that DBM is a crutch but that the issue lies with WeakAuras. All of the problematic bosses where people have exclaimed “omg addons required” have all heavily relied on weakauras assistance:Those particular words were not mine; they were quoted. The lack of any meaningful grind in the EW relic has actually diminished my desire to do it.
I’ll eventually get it done, maybe, but right now, it feels more like a tome dump than something to actually work on.
I used the previous relics to keep me engaged in the game and want to play. I tried and tried but now, it’s a chore to login because I keep asking myself, in Metion’s voice, Why? Why are you playing this? The same content, over and over… for another 8 months…
Going from 3 months to 4.5 months on content delivery has hit way harder than I expected.
I know you're agreeing with one part, but I think you missed the balance I'm stating.I'm sure.
I didn't say people only play one game. That was kind of the OP's assertion - that people only play FFXIV if they like it and that they're playing BG3 obviously means FFXIV sucks.
What I *DID* say personally is that if I really enjoy one game, I don't go to a different game's forum to advertise about it and tell everyone how much I like <othergame> better.
As for feedback: When people are saying offer critiques of the game, not insults to other players or just insults to the game, that isn't "gatekeeping" what type of feedback may be offered. Insults are not feedback.
.
Now, if you'd like to discuss what BG3 does well that you'd like to see in FFXIV, that's a different conversation, and that might be a worthwhile one. But that isn't what this thread started as, nor what this conversation has been. It might be one worth engaging in instead, though.
EDIT:
Or religion, yeah.
It's not like you believe in one god and aren't allowed to worship another. These are videogames. A person can (and most people will and do) dabble in more than one. I don't know why some people want to treat them like religions, or worse, sports teams, or worse political ideologies; where one is either with or against them and can only play/enjoy one at a time.
[btw, to avoid any possible confusion, I'm agreeing with you, not disagreeing. Quoted for truth, as it were.]
The games not a job, you shouldn't have to feel obligated to play it every day, 24/7 but you should want to play the game. You should want to log in and do something that isn't afking.
So true! In fact, I'm sure you all would be happy to know that many people are doing exactly as you suggest. FCs have thinned out. FCs with 100+ members are down to the single digits in active users. Most of my friends stopped playing months ago, and everyone I've talked to has experienced the same thing. You like this, right? In fact, the prevailing cope these days is that FFXIV exists so that you can meet people to play other games with. If you don't have a Discord where you play everything but FFXIV, are you really playing FFXIV?
Except, one small problem...
Once people unsubscribe or forget about FFXIV, the world-famous social interaction dies too. Yeah, that's right. People stop logging in even for cybersex. And why would they? FFXIV isn't necessary anymore. Just use Discord. And, in case I'm wrong: what kind of game is this when the player base only logs in once a week or so to show up in a "club", AFK, then log out? Is that what the world's best MMO and "WoW-killer" was meant to be?
While a TON of people love FFXIV because they don't have to play it, there's a very small subsection of people (me included) who like playing FFXIV because it's a video game, not a social media platform for playing other games. Perhaps we're dying off?

I don't know why you quote me as it's not a problem for me. I help friends clearing some content and we occasionally run maps but I don't use it as a social media platform, never attended a venue, don't ever intend to do so. There's enough content to keep be busy (atm working on solo clears of Deep Dungeons as mentioned earlier) but I also don't play games all day. I have RL things to do and I would never expect a game to keep me busy all day long (that would be unhealthy).Once people unsubscribe or forget about FFXIV, the world-famous social interaction dies too. Anyway for those who like the more social aspects of the game, good for them. That's another way to play the game and it's just as valid.

I dont recall Social Interaction ever being "World Famous" and I didnt mention cybersex...but whatever, probably just being facetiousOnce people unsubscribe or forget about FFXIV, the world-famous social interaction dies too. Ok, and that is their decision, no game is "necessary", its just a videogame, and how one spends their time in a game is their business. They pay to log in, afk, go to in-game clubs, raid, experience the MSQ, Take Screenshots, blahblah....thats up to them, thats their business. If its what they enjoy and pay to do, leave them be.
FFXIV is an MMO, its a Videogame on a massive server and it has more then 1 thing you can do and enjoy in it. Some people here for instance love and are attached to their housing and playing Dress up with their Avatars. More Power to them!
Just because you can do all of this and a percentage of players partake in this, doesn't make FFXIV any less of a videogame. Both exist in this game, and both will continue to be developed. "People who play the game" are not a small subsection and you are not a dying breed. Dont be Dramatic.
There is still Battle Content being made, and there is Battle Content already in the game. And we have a (slightly vague) release date and some info on the Next Expansion. With more details to come to tell us what we are getting in the Initial Release of Dawntrail.
And even after the release of Dawntrail, they will still be making Battle Content.
This is Still a Videogame, regardless of Social Avenues.
Something every MMO has.
