This. I played EverQuest for over 10 years and raided hard for the majority of them. You do get attached to people and the game and maybe even the high of clearing the content. If you don't like FFXIV anymore, then just stop playing. That's what I do when I am no longer happy with a game. You don't "need" to do savage every week. You do so because you want to.
I've been in the same position as op with another game, having raided for almost 10 yrs. The hardest part was to make the firm decision to stop (you are attached to people and the game and probably telling yourself "what will I miss?") and say to the team sorry but "I've had enough and am no longer having fun". It lifted a weight off my shoulders and I never looked back. Gaming should be fun, not a chore. You won't miss anything if you no longer like it.
I finally dipped my feet into Savage raiding with this last set of floors. I found a great casual static and I'm enjoying myself a lot. If it got to the point where it was a chore, I wouldn't do it anymore. I had good prog tonight in 11s with my crew and now I'm perusing the boards a bit before I fire up my Switch and play some Sea of Stars, a game I've been looking forward to quite a lot, before I head to bed.
If someone's just logging in for the game to feel like a millstone around their neck, maybe they should look at what they're getting in return and decide if it's worth it. If they don't find much, consider a break. They should let themselves indulge in what makes them happy.
I think that's really the crux of the complaints that some people log in just to be social. The people complaining aren't happy with just that so they're mad at those who can be happy just doing that. When really they should consider finding their own happiness, be that with the game or in some other pursuit.
I took a break from Baldur's Gate 3 to play Starfield.
You noticed people talking about a Brand New game thats very fun and a new experience?
These people are talking about how they cant wait to get their Clear to keep up with this MMO, and now they can play a New Game?
I will never understand the lot of you who sit here and badmouth FFXIV...or specifically Endwalker, just because it doesnt have this big grand endless Grind that you can waste your life on forever.
Its somehow so bad to play other games and not be completely married to FFXIV. Its apparently so bad to talk about enjoying more then one game.
Somehow we dont actually like playing FFXIV, or its not a good game, just because we dare to play and talk about other games that exist. And we dont spend endless hours like there is nothing else in life.
I dont get some of you.
And have we forgotten that MMOs are also a social Hub? Why is it so surprising that some people like to socialize in a Videogame?
Every MMO has a social element to it, and even has things in it for Social interaction.
And here I am, not having played BG3 for days because I'm in FFXIV trying to get moogle tomestones, lol.
OH SHOOT I forgot that got announced.
Payday is great...just hope they dont get lazy with it because the whole budget goes into graphics and the Cash Shop.
I wonder how many Articles the game will spawn as well...the 2020s are gonna be a brutal decade for violent games XD
I have played FFXIV since 1.0, I have played other games. I don't pretend FFXIV is fun, I still enjoy it. I still enjoy other games. I have been playing MMOs since EQ was new. I also play other games during those MMOs because I enjoy other things. When a new game is out taht I want to play, I play that more than others, but that doesn't mean other games are bad, they just aren't new. Once BG3 and AC6 new-ness wears off, people will go back to other games (including FFXIV).
You people who all hate on FFXIV because of it's current content (or lack of according to you) are just torturing yourselves. If you feel so strongly that FFXIV isn't fun, then why bother? Just unsub, go away, and let people enjoy what they enjoy. No amount of hating will change the direction the game is going, that's been apparent for years.
really it's just a reflection of the devs attitude to their own game. remember when the director couldn't be bothered to put his switch down and played zelda the whole time like a couple live letters ago or something? even the people making the game don't care anymore.
The classic 'I refuse to account for the possibility for my enemy to make a joke so I will take everything they do 100% seriously' mindset.really it's just a reflection of the devs attitude to their own game. remember when the director couldn't be bothered to put his switch down and played zelda the whole time like a couple live letters ago or something? even the people making the game don't care anymore.
Which means you obviously weren't watching the test stream where it happened, nor did you watch the subsequent Live Letter where it didn't happen.really it's just a reflection of the devs attitude to their own game. remember when the director couldn't be bothered to put his switch down and played zelda the whole time like a couple live letters ago or something? even the people making the game don't care anymore.
If you think the devs don't care about their game, why are you playing it? Wouldn't it be better to be sticking to the games where you think the developers do care? I mean I see your signature. If you and your friends are having a good time in a cheap game that no one cares about, wouldn't you be having a better time together in a game where the developers did care?
