“I don’t want to grind but also grinding alt classes is too quick because you can grind them on roulettes”, Bozja was a valid way to grind alt classes and that was a valid way for a casual to interact with it, same as you saying “you only did dal once” but what in EW took the amount of time to complete DAL even if you left and never returned after clearing Dal, there was just so much content even if you only interacted with it on the surface level

WOW’s problem (which was also wildstars problem) is they forced you to interact with long repetitive systems to progress at endgame (torghast for example); what is the harm in making another Bozja that is not required for progression (potentially having a fully optional relic progression through it), for people like you who view it as “homework” you can just ignore it, for people who want midcore grindable endgame content it exists and like eureka they could just tie glams and money to it

There is never a downside to optional grindy content, EW just misses the mark because IS can’t be forced and automates itself and EO offers absolutely nothing over HOH/POTD and the community of DD grinders is vanishingly small compared to any other type of grindable endgame content

Your argument seems to centre on “if the content doesn’t suit my tastes I’d rather there be no content” which at best is misinformed and at worst is selfish
Ok let me word it this way if you ever played classic WoW. Do you get the same feeling with Bozja or Eureka when you progressed in Elwynn Forest? Where people were always in general chat, you saw many players running around doing quests, exploring around, killing mobs rather than just being in one huge faceless group going from Fate to Fate killing off any sense of danger? Because efficient progression there is tied to just one activity grind in a small zone with just random callouts.

I think the longer patch cycles are accelerating burnout due to content exhaustion.

If we were in the old cycle, we would be in the hype mode for the next release as it would only be 90 days away. Instead, the 7.0 release is at least 270 to 300 days away.

We are late in the patch cycle, and for most raid groups in every game when things are on farm they just want it over and done with. My wife's raid group in WoW does the exact same thing once they have something on Farm. In fact, they end up just no longer raiding until the next tier and go play other games. We are about a month and a half or so out from the next patch, so yeah people are looking to the new exciting things. And considering BG3 is definitely in the running for GotY it's only natural to see a lot of talk about it. Not to mention it's only a highly anticipated addition to a well beloved series that was told they'd get a third one by the original studio back in the early 2000s. So yeah, going to be lots of talk. And soon you'll see lots of talk about Starfield. This has nothing to do with FF14 and more to do with the nature of gamers.

I still log in and play, and I enjoy my time in game. Sure others might not, but I can't say that it is indicative of everyone. All we have to go on is our personal feelings since SE doesn't release subscriber numbers and there are no official surveys. Does that mean I only talk about FF14 in game though? No, I'm having a blast in BG3 and like to talk about the things I like with my friends. It's almost like... that's what friends do, you know talk about shared interests that they are currently super excited about. Weird.

WoW is also almost on a new patch, very shortly actually, and population didnt change, still as many people online in my guild, and they still do weekly HC raids and mythic raids for the raid team, what gives FFXIV is different ?

They also make sure to add in more content in these big patched rather than how FFXIV draws it out. There are ups and downs to this method, but I just wish FFXIV could churn out more stuff to do like in WoW

I would never expect an MMO to take 100% of my leisure time. In recent times, I pop on the game to do what I need to do weekly, then I played Tears of the Kingdom or FFXVI and eventually BG3. I don't see anything wrong with that. The expectation that I should be entertained with fresh content every time I sit down to play a game that is 10 years old is a bit ridiculous.

Yet these imaginary friends in OP are all still paying subs and logging in. It’s almost as though people play more than one game, and can have more interests than any one game.

    More eye rolling content here.
