Feedback from a new player

One of the things that both WoW and EQII used to lure people away from EQ was the ability to play solo and small group which was something that was severely lacking in EQ. Both of those games had much more accessible solo experiences. So I do kind of laugh when people talk about vanilla WoW like it was anywhere near as hard as old school MMOs were. I played it. I played EQII. I still played EQ at the time. WoW and EQII were my break from my hardcore game.

I stopped EQ right around the time Planes of Power launched and it became too time consuming to continue, but earlier this year I was getting feelings of nostalgia and found Project 1999, which is a great trip down memory lane but I haven't been on in a while. I will always remember EQ as being and incredible world that felt more alive than anything I have played since despite the limitations of the technology at the time.
