Feedback from a new player

I'm a relatively new player here - working through Endwalker MSQ still, having a blast!

I don't use any mods. Never have, never will. I am fine with the game's interface and graphics as they are, and I already know my DPS is terrible without a meter to tell me.

Yoshi P stated why the WOL doesnt have a voice. It is meant for you yourself to insert the voice in there as they were afraid that setting a voice for the WOL would break several people's emersion in the game and ruin their experience due to not liking the voice options that would be provided.

While the teams stance on mods has been a little lenient, the one thing they seem to want to draw a hard line at is mods that will input commands into the client for you or otherwise communicate with the server. Even though you don't feel that gatherbuddy is automation, it is inputting commands to the client for you and is probably something that will get you banned if enough attention is called to it. Also automation doesn't have to be a completely hands off experience, it can be as simple as plotting a course and making your character follow it without your input even though you are acting once you get to the gathering node. Otherwise what I can say for sure is that I was still playing EQ when WoW launched and I remember at the time it being considered EQ for players that couldn't make it in Norrath, so yes there was a time where WoW at launch was considered the easy baby MMO.

Most certainly to each his (or her) own. I love going through the logs after a dungeon, and checking how much damage my party members took vs how much I took (as a tank). Certainly some bosses target random party members etc, but it still gives me a good idea (along with commendations obviously), how good am I doing as tank. And even comparing my damage to the healer, or other tanks and healers in larger groups.

But I certainly do not want these things integrated into the game.
And as I said, I can now certainly understand addons should certainly not be adopted or integrated officially, because (as another poster pointed out) they become mandatory very quickly.

I did figure that's why it was left out. But hell... No voice with lip flaps and nods being more immersive than a voice you didn't imagine? That, to me, is a hard sell. Especially if "no voice" can be an option.

Both of those games had much more accessible solo experiences. So I do kind of laugh when people talk about vanilla WoW like it was anywhere near as hard as old school MMOs were. I played it. I played EQII. I still played EQ at the time. WoW and EQII were my break from my hardcore game.

I stopped EQ right around the time Planes of Power launched and it became too time consuming to continue, but earlier this year I was getting feelings of nostalgia and found Project 1999, which is a great trip down memory lane but I haven't been on in a while. I will always remember EQ as being and incredible world that felt more alive than anything I have played since despite the limitations of the technology at the time.

No it isnt, WoW was never an absolute cakewalk as FFXIV is, and the leveling even less. Are you sure you played vanilla ?

RMT is everywhere in this game, flying lalas, party finder spam, teleporting lalas, spamming low levels in Limsa, or trading gil to other players in busy mode.

Good to see a nice post of negativity to refute everything the new player has to say. These forums are absolute garbage.
