Item/Gear Management Needs A "Less is More" Redux

I don't care about glamour at all but I'm not ever going to say that the system in FFXIV should not be improved (or cannot, they've obviously put things through the pipeline that they wouldn't have dreamed of in ARR like cross world PF and realm+ data center roaming).

We should demand more from them, especially because they're focusing on things like appearances and environments and lately, many around here feel, to the detriment of core systems like battle encounter and job design.

As someone who never has (and probably never will) use the cash shop, I find it telling that they're willing to add extra dye slots for every piece of gear but not make dyes obtainable in a more permanent way in game like GW2 has had since its beginning, especially the rarer ones that also exist for purchase for real money.

They could just as easily make dyes exist purely within the dye menu, and should be working towards making gear work the same as that in the glamour dresser. I get that it's likely a technical hurdle, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't collectively shrug and say it can't be helped.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were still just limitations on the system that are arbitrary like how it used to require 50 and various levels and classes of glamour prisms.
