If they are working in something else, they will tell it when they are ready to it. Also, working on FFXVI and FFXIV at the same time while still maintain FFXI is already a lot of work.

True, for such a small indie company as Square Enix, they must really be overworked, have you considered making a gofundme for them so we can fund them to have a bigger team ?

I mention CBU3 which is one division of the current 4 they have now. THe CB1 which is Kitase team is with FFVII remake and Kinfdom Hearts 4, the CB2 which I don´t know who lead is Dragon Quest stuff and Nier and Octopath /Bravely Default and that. The CBU3 with FFXIV FFXVI and FFXI. and the CBU4 which I think only handles remasters, ports and that.
Also, Yoshida mentioned he want to make a new IP totally new. So, that's a posibility. It is obvious they work in more things that they say, but a sevice game will still need content and support, so they work in that too at the same time.
Yoshi also mentioned that for FF14 they have progressed to expansion 10.0 but I don't see anyone mentioning it in any post.I mention CBU3 which is one division of the current 4 they have now. I mean they are still hiring for the mmo development team in UI, game designer and monster design they are always hiring it’s just they have a weird boner for quality standards rather then training people less qualified
Well the team split after heavensward but it went into full production around stormblood finishing so post stormblood onwards would of been impacted which it wasn’t and Covid would of impacted stuff it affected everything so I think it isn’t copium to say Covid was the main reason for the shadowbringers issue.Stormblood was in development during Heavensward. It would have affected the next expansion which…gasp, is Shadowbringers, the expansion with the least amount of content. And before people scream “omg covid.” Let’s not forget they had literally stated before the expansion even came out that we wouldn’t have things like hildibrand, they were taking away dungeons, no allied beast tribe quest final quest, no deep dungeon etc. Looking back that was the biggest sign lol.

They hardly even maintain ff11 its considered the stepchild to its younger brother ff14 and not even getting updates going further except occasional server maintenance which is covered by ff14s server engineers. There not putting in massive work to maintain ff11 its going to be on life support from now until there contract ends in 10 years for the maintenance for ff11 new server hardware.
