PS4/5 being difficult to work with isn't a thing. It's not so arcane that developers are saying it's not worth the resources to target that audience.

Isn't PS console what JP players mostly play on? I can't see them dropping support if so.
All you guys complain the combat is evolving, the game is evolving and it's not turn based anymore. Also Elden Ring was absolutely a casual visual novel. It was the entry-level From Software game for literally YOUR TYPE!
Tell me more about self-outs. We original players are absolutely waiting, biting our knuckles waiting for your cringe to continue. "Elden Ring isn't a novel and was actually hard."
Do you not know who George R.R Martin is? Take your L before your cringe continues.
Oh dear. You're digging a deeper trench for yourself. While Elden Ring was indeed easier than Sekiro and DS1/2, imagine saying that FF16 was as hard as Elden Ring. This really shows who hasn't actually beaten Elden Ring here. All you guys complain the combat is evolving, the game is evolving and it's not turn based anymore. You quite literally can't die in FF16 unless you tried even on FF mode.
And for that matter, the problems with FF16 isn't moving away from turn-based. It's simply that it's an inferior product to God of War, DMC, Elden Ring, and really any action game in the space. I think the fact that you would jump to the conclusion that a complaint would be about it not being turn-based really shows what kind of crowd you've been hanging out with... certainly not seasoned action game players.

Assuming this is an honest question, how about you accept what the dev team has said for years now.
The playstation is not holding back the game. What took so long to do the graphics update was actually not the ps4 it was PC players playing with pc's that were flirting with minimum required settings, they did not want to upgrade something that would push out so much of their playerbase.
The only PlayStation they ever had problems with was Ps3 which was notoriously tricky to work with because of it's very specific design. Which is why back in Stormblood they dropped ps3 support (with plenty of warning). They have said repeatedly that the Ps4 is not holding the game back and they haven't even come close to fully harnessing the power of the ps4 let alone ps5. So... there ya go.
Pretty sure this is a troll topic like usual but there's your actual information. Ignore it as I know these forums will.

The PS3 was difficult to develop for. The PS4 was changed in that regards and you can ask many developers who will tell you that patching and development for PS5 was easier that Xbox. A few things holding some developers back from the Xbox was their current way of patching xbox clients until Phil Spencer spent over a year trying to fix the way Xbox patches are handled.
FFXIV will not drop playstation which is roughly 30% or more of its total playerbase
