Is Playstation holding back the future of FFXIV?

Now with the introduction of the Xbox Series S/X version, it means that Square Enix are now developing for two Windows-based operating systems. Simple. Many games are cross-save, platform, etc. between Windows 10/11 and Xbox due to this simplicity. Developers are comfortable with it.

This means that Square need to go out of their way and expend resources developing for Playstation's operating system, which isn't easy to work with.

So, should we start considering dropping PS4/5 support?

I don't really label people as being fanboys of certain consoles often as I find the whole console war thing really stupid, but between this thread and the other Xbox related one they made, it really does feel like the OP is an Xbox fanboy that's trying to provoke Playstation users. Might not be the case, but it's certainly coming off that way.

This console war crap is dumb. Your little box being better or worse than someone else's little box doesn't make you better than them. Both are inferior to PCs anyways. (I jest, I jest)

The xbox series x isnt significantly better then ps5 only marginally better there not going to drop ps4/ps5 when the series x is only slightly more powerful.

I mean if you look at actual sales data in Japan, there's realistically no way a Japanese company would drop Sony support

Absolutely never. The only thing I am okay with is dropping the PS4, because PS5s are actually obtainable now, and the PS4 is old.

Ffs I was a console player before i got my pc, and I don't care. The facts are what they are. The PlayStation is not holding back FF14, nor will it ever likely ever, and if it does they will end support for it. Just like the Xbox isn't some magical console that is the best thing ever. When one of them becomes a problem they will address it.. if neither of them is a problem they'll remain.. unless or until that happens STFU.
