I do agree with wanting an increase but trying to work around the limit is certainly a boon to creativityThe item limit is punishing and I would definitely love to see an increase but I actually enjoy the push for creativity in it. If your house is "empty" than you need to fundamentally rethink your design to make use of the space and the item limit in a more pleasant way. The other option is to cut off space and a lot of people prefer to design smaller but for me personally it's fun to try and maximize the spaces I'm given to tell a more immersive story. The struggle is what makes it worthwhile to accomplish a really cool build and I enjoy that sense of satisfaction afterwards. I've been lucky enough to have a chance to decorate every size of home available and the challenge of a full floor plan is always exciting.

that's a bull reasoning. See what people create without limits in other games. The limit in FF14 results in people just creating more often than not bland "modern" designs with no inspiration with the exact same layouts because that's the most effective thing people are able to do with the item limit.
What games do not have limits on housing item placement? None I've played in the last 20 years. Many have 'slots' where certain things can go, and a limited number of those 'slots'. Others have a limit, but do not restrict placement.
have you played the sims? v-rising, ark survival evolved, rust, satisfactory, factorio, subnautica, valheim, minecraft, cities skylines and lots more, these are just the ones off the top of my head where i have seen some amazing builds as well as very easy to build in.
In both factorio and minecraft, people have created computers within the games. Someone even made pacman in factorio.
FF14 is the only game that has pretty severe restrictions on what you can and can't do and the only way to bypass some of those restrictions is to abuse bugs or use a 3rd party tool that goes against the terms of service which can result in your account being banned.
I'm sorry you seem to have not played any other games in the last 20 years, but fyi, there's A LOT out there, so you should try expanding your horizons.
As a house hunter for years, I just want a large. I don't care about item limit increases. I build in such a small space anyway (currently using all 300 decos for 2/3rds of the first floor of a medium). I JUST want a large house with that sweet vertical space to build into; I will probably put all 400 decos in just that open square area of a large if/when I get one. I would rather them save that "server space" for adding more houses, particularly large houses.
I probably will stop going for a medium depending on how big the item increase is
Hopefully, we'll get a new house district too.
At least we have the official announcement about the increase coming next expansion.
I agree with this but I also understand why some would prefer the higher limits. Sometimes I come up just short of what I hoped to achieve. Others I don't even attempt because existing items can't make it possible (though sometimes later furnishing additions can).
The only game I can remember that didn't have limits in housing in The Sims, and housing in that game can't be compared to the rest because it works differently.that's a bull reasoning. See what people create without limits in other games. Other MMORPGS also have limits and the limits are lower in many cases. RIFT and ESO have higher limits but their housing is fully instanced with huge spaces compared to the relatively small area we have to work with in this game (even those with mansions).

Cities: Skylines is a solo player city builder. not a game with player housing (it's my go to game when I want a break from this one). You have never seen "an amazing build" of player housing coming out of that game.
Minecraft is a pixel sandbox. It is again a completely different style of housing more akin to the Sims than housing in MMORPGs.
The other games I don't play so I don't know if they have player housing or if you're once again confusing what is meant by player housing.
FFXIV doesn't have even close to the restrictions on player housing decoration that you'll have in LotRO or SWTOR, where items can only be placed on designated hooks and only on hooks for the item type.
Try playing some other MMORPGs before commenting on how good or bad the housing is in this game. It's not the best, but it's also not even close to the worst.

Conan Exiles is Mao favorites. Can build amazingly detailed buildings in all sorts places. Even off side of cliffs!have you played the sims? v-rising, ark survival evolved, rust, satisfactory, factorio, subnautica, valheim, minecraft, cities skylines and lots more, these are just the ones off the top of my head where i have seen some amazing builds as well as very easy to build in.

I was talking about creativity without limits. When you see fully modded cities in cities skylines as an example, or the various things players achieve in other games. Even by MMO standards, housing is very limited apparently in ff14, albeit i can't comment on that first hand as i don't have experience in other MMOs with housing. But my point still stands, having limits restricts creativity. And the limits in ff14 are quite severe. I know yoshi P said they were talking to the networking/server devs about increasing limits, but lets be frank, this game engine sucks as square enix never invests much in development. Hell, it's too much to ask for there to be no snapping for furniture and a full 3 axis freedom of movement... because everyone knows it's more than possible. It's just a few values in the code that restrict it.At least we have the official announcement about the increase coming next expansion.

They even have the funds to completely overhaul the game engine and rebuild the game whilst still developing updates for the game... but they'd rather spend it on NFT development and other P2W projects to increase shareholder dividends and fatten up the value of the company to be bought up rather than optimise the game and increase player count in instances.
