FF16 expansions/DLCs in the work? How will this affect FF14?

Yoshida said numerous times that they had no plans for DLC during the development of FFXVI. ALL future content for FFXVI will be developed if the game sold well and if people are asking for it, and considering its successes yeah that seems to be the most likely outcome. Also its been already said, but they're currently working on a PC port for the game anyway.

No use to playing doomsayer. TheDecay, you do realize that CBUIII have been developing FFXVI since Heavensward right? Also staff members come and go in the industry and many juggle between multiple projects.

Instead of worrying about CBUIII how about we continue providing feedback to the current team thats focusing on FFXIV rather than playing an episode of Wha Happun?

Ok explain why Leviathan isn't in the game. Did you play FF16? Because it's incredibly obvious they're holding back content for later.

Also FFXVI is a single-player game, expansions are never released for single-player FFs - XV had it's DLC side stories but that's an outlier. And I don't see any reason to think XVI is going to be any different.

I think what OP is getting at is Leviathan is in the lore in 16, but weirdly missing. There are supposed to be 8 elemental Eikons but Leviathan's didn't make it into the game. Whether they ran out of time, wrote out Leviathan, or are saving it for DLC is anyone's guess.

Well considering OP is the troll again I’m surprised anyone is giving them light of day. DLC would take way less time to make and wouldn’t require the whole team again. Even with a pc port you don’t have to have the whole team to make it work it’s a smaller team. In regards to 14 it’s S-Es only cash cow they’re not going to screw that over. Devs shifting projects is good for their moral it’s probably why call of duty has gone into a hole of despair cause they make the same game day in day out year after year so they’re creatively bankrupt.

Hiring new people or building up their skills while the others worked on 16 is a good thing too they’re always hiring, heck look at the job listings they’re still recruiting now. I think they just wanted to spread their wings a bit with a single player entry after doing 11+ years of 14 and it gives them some fresh eyes and perspective to go back into 14. Even if they decide to make another project it would be 5-6 years away and not even in production till at least by the time of 14s next expansion after this in timeframe if we go with how long games can be in pre production etc.

So why would you comment when you obviously haven't played 16 at all?

Anyone who played it would realize that Leviathan is in the lore. Maybe they didn't put Leviathan in the story because they cut out content, or maybe they deliberately withheld story bits for future DLCs.

You mean redesigning jobs into EW SMN? If that's what their "fresh eyes" are going to bring back into FF14 they should probably just stop and move on to making FF16-2.

I like some people's delusions that all of a sudden they are going to fully re-focus on FFXIV because FF16 is a success, it's literally doing the polar opposite, it encourages them to do more content out of FFXIV if FF16 is a success, they arent going to think to themselves "Great, good job guys, now lets go back to FFXIV as FF16 was an amazing success", no, they'll start on more things that are not FFXIV instead since it's giving them money, and on the side they have their cash shop racking in money 24 7 to fund those projects, all that by doing the bare minimum for the game, so why would they bother ?

It was mentioned can take years for someone to become a dominant after the previous has died, so likely there was one for leviathan at some point that likely died, and with that free spot, Ifrit claimed the seat as an 8th instead. As for DLC prolly wont be seeing anything major till after FFXVI drops on other platforms, only thing I can see happening anytime soon (year or so) would be a collab event.
