And, once again, here we are with the ugly opposite of "go play XI"...

Why is it so hard to say "I like XYZ/I don't like XYZ because ABC"?!

Why? Because the internet has no sense of consequence.

The solution? Mandate that shock collars be worn in order to use the internet with a supercomputer designed to detect doosh behavior. When a user is found in violation they are shocked.

You should revise your statement that if you wanted anything, you had to actually turn in hundreds if not thousands of millioncorn/cabbage/vegetables at Selbina because it was the quickest and most efficient way to gain fame.
Non repeatable quests gave more fame than repeateable ones. If you just sat down and enjoyed the game instead of trying to rush to the top the requirement unlocked quests would be opened without even noticing.

Then again, if you wanted to rush, then yeah, you could go and grind like crazy and hate the game. Hey man, its up to you. Your choice of gameplay. But don't go complaining if you have a bad time.

When XI was released being a summoner actually meant something. It was a staple job and getting the avatars was no easy task. People would actually stop in jeuno to stare at them in awe.

How horrible, having an objective to aim to instead of being handed everything to you the first week through mindless grinding.

I thank you for going out of your way to personally attack me. When referencing "FFXI" clone, I was referring to this poster, at the top of page 2.

FFXIV from day one should have been a 100% clone of what FFXI had to give to players just 100% diff and better and 10x better and FFXIV would have been a great game and added dungeon finder and many things from wow and other games and it would have been great.

That's what this says to me. he doesn't like working to get his advanced classes, he wants them to be "accessible". The need for instant gratification is all I ever read on these forums... And that need is why everyone is soooo boooored and has all level 50s. Nobody wants to gain fame, quest for maps, walk anywhere or gain access to Aeythrite crystals themselves, questing for access to the airship is too hard and waiting more then 2 seconds for the airship is too long, competition for NMs is too hard, everything should be instanced so its easy for me to access, booo hooooooo.

All of this QQing is exactly what is keeping content out of this game.

That's the only reason they need around these parts.

Summoner's probably a bad example for what you are trying to say, seeing as fame was just to start the quest, the quest itself was a separate achievement, and then there was primal collecting, either you knew a buddy who could or you yourself could solo the true primals, or you had to level to 20 to fight the lowbie versions by yourself
I mean sure, activating the quest to become a summoner required the challenge of fame as you call it, but once you got past that as a magic using job you had a lot more effort in store to actually be effective, kinda similar to BLU, not like you could buy all those spells, and for the jobs which primarily had purchasable spells, you had to be able to make money in order to do so
Wanting to be a mage in XI was an effort in of itself, fame was a barrier to beginning that effort, not the effort itself.
