I love this, it is really good!Honestly, curvy is exactly what we need more of. They're likely to have a Femroe skeleton but I'm crossing my fingers their bust-waist-hip ratio is less....flat. Give them girls those male Au Ra hips please.
In other news, just in case it hasn't been posted yet, a new Hrothgal art from reddit
https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...y_hrothgar_oc/
Especially her face which looks soft and cute, while keeping those wild cat aesthetics. And those abs!!! FemRoe was robbed of abs, let the lion ladies have em'!
I like how the artist managed to make her cute while avoiding the trap of making her feel like another Miqo'te.
Really good design.
This is a very acceptable design to me, because I can visualize ways to make her look like a badass AND to make her look cute and dainty. Being able to make one race look either/or on the dainty-cutesy-princess/battlehardened-badass scale is a good thing, makes them versatile in their looks and thereby makes the race more appealing to a wider audience. I think one of the reasons (besides 'it is competing against literal catgirls) that Femroes and Femhighlanders are more rare is that it's a lot harder to make them look cute compared to catgirls, which are very versatile in their looks. I never did get the hang of making Femroes look more demure and less fierce, must be the eyebrows
Bloodhempen gear (Sadu's gear) would fit so well on this design wouldn't it

This is just to keep the discussion and thread going. I don't want to single you out specifically, but rather the community and this thread as a whole. Miqo'tes are basically just catgirls. They're just humans with cat ears and a tail slapped on top.
Not everything with cat ears and a tail is gonna be a miqo'te, even if it looks more human-ish. If it has fur and a snout/muzzle it's already distinct enough from miqo'te.
Personally, I'd be MORE than OK with a more feral leaning fem hrothgar model, but I wouldn't be upset at a more human-like model either, provided they have a snout/muzzle and fur instead of skin.
I wanted to add to this, what you said is spot on, but there is another thing, that at least for me makes a massive diference. If female Hrothgar are tall, then we would have our first tall female that has a tail. All the rest are short like Miquo'te and Au'Ra. Just by being tall and having a tail it offers so much to the people who like having tails and also being tall, a thing that none of the current female options offer. This is a very acceptable design to me, because I can visualize ways to make her look like a badass AND to make her look cute and dainty. I disagree, there is a point where you make them look way to humanoid for a "beast race", and so it comes the comparison to Miquo'te. I have nothing against more humanoid designs, but only if it is given both ways, if the males were more humanoid, then by all means make the females as well, but if they are more beast, the females should be as well. I just want them to put male Hrothgar next to female Hrothgar and look like they belong to the same species. Something that a more humanoid design could not acomplish. This is just to keep the discussion and thread going. I'd disagree on principle. They could have very strong and marked sexual dimorphism (See: Au Ras) and still work.
The bestial featuers would suit them better, though, you're right on that.
But at this point it's just wishful thinking and screaming excitedly about fanarts. We'll have to wait for the Fan Fests and see if they give us some concept art at least.
I personally wish they don't have hunched backs like male Hroths. If having them be "Miqo 2.0" is the price to pay for that... I'd be OK with it.
I want them bestial, just not ugly for the sake of ugly, if that makes sense.
Makes sence to me, honestley as long as they are tall, have a tail and at least 1 face lets me have a muzzle, I will be content.I'd disagree on principle. They could have very strong and marked sexual dimorphism (See: Au Ras) and still work.

You are right that the fan arts are wishful thinking, but they looked at fan arts for male Viera so I am sure they did so for female Hrothgar. I will go with the devs vision weather I like it or no.
BTW I do think that Female Au'Ra, at least Xaela were a mistake and do not fit with their lore at all. So I hope to whatever God will hear me that they DO NOT do that again. I hate that degree of sexual dimorphism. Cause it ALWAYS ONLY APPLIES TO WOMEN. And I am sick and tired of it. It is not cute that the tallest female Au'Ra barely reaches a males pelvis, it is creepy. And I am tired of people prerending it is not, cause you know that they would throw out the tables if the roles were reversed. Like how they did when they foud out that male Viera are just a few cm shorter.
What I wish for is a modified female Roe body with a feminine Hrothgar head. They SHOULD look like the same species, if not then why even bother?
I think this summarizes it pretty wellI'd disagree on principle. They could have very strong and marked sexual dimorphism (See: Au Ras) and still work.

Good point, now Im actually hopeful they will be tall ^_^I wanted to add to this, what you said is spot on, but there is another thing, that at least for me makes a massive diference.
