I think they should let us build small, medium or large houses on them in 6.5 and allow indoor furnishings as well, even if it shares the same 90 slots. That would finally solve the problem they have had for 10 years.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

You just know there would be an uproar from the people that only sub to keep a house. Suddenly they'll be saying "Well now that everyone can have a house, get rid of demo timers completely so we can keep our houses forever."
And that would be fine, they can remove the demo timer once everyone can get a house. But the demo timer exists because it keeps people subbed, so they will never give us instanced medium/large houses.

Even in this scenario, neighborhoods would be the primary source of social housing, ie venues, etc, and that still requires a demo timer. Demo timer prevents stagnation so you don't end up with neighborhoods full of untouched houses.
Enkidu would like a word. :P
It'd help but won't there be an issue if too many people go to their IS at once? There's really not much to do on your IS right now, but adding housing would definitely change that.

It would, but they accounted for that actually with the inactivity logout. This is not something you have in the housing system, but it is in Island Sanctuary and helped reduce congestion when it released.
Even if it did get congested, when the housing areas are full they give a message that says the area is busy and doesn't let you enter and I believe Island Sanctuary would just do the same.

Agreed. I don't even understand what leg the critics have to stand on now. The argument until now was always a technical one. "they can't have loads of instances with people's unique furniture loadouts in each one." Well, now we have that. And the game runs fine. Just take this one step further and put a house in. I don't see the argument against it anymore.
They should absolutely get rid of demo timers in general. If more people demanded this and put pressure on the company to do it, after an instanced housing solution were formulated via island sanctuary, it would be a good thing.
