I made a thread on a lot of gathering wishes, but I did move into some customization: here. Focusing on the topic of customization (and not effects) for this thread, I imagine:
- Wild landmarks (landmarks you can build in the non-industrious side, purposely designed to blend in with nature), some of these ideas related to effects in the thread above. Like if you built an animal shrine you'd have a chance each day an animal would leave leavings there (marked on the map when it happens).
- Fences (so you don't have to use a million decorations lol)
- In cliff facilities, for the thread above it was including a shrine mammet maiden place where you could buy charms that are a form of gathering upgrading, and also cliff face style changes (say if you wanted rock faces that were reinforced, similar to what we do to make pretty looking safe edges to steep slopes)
- Mammet glamour, like moogle or poroggo
- Harbor, which may even be upgraded to the point of personal airship (though obviously starting with a small boat, upgrading to multiple mammet fleets, etc). Naturally coming with mechanics to interact with the other nations, tribes, and even custom deliveries.
- Using the above system, exploratory content that includes finding new lands which can introduce new buildings, mechanics, recipes, animals, plants, etc. But also potentially some of the lands may have nodes you can build on, with the addition of being able to create a headquarter / home you could very likely see placing your operations on different landmasses. For example you might unlock a Thanalan Oasis, central park Amarout, slice of land in the vast Azim Steppe region, Sea of Clouds Island, etc.
- Allowing animals from the pasture to reach a point you can have them wander as specialty minions (though in the thread above had ideas for effects).
Definitely more, listed in the thread but they were more on function.
For specific thematic styles, I'd like to see Shirogane (Japanese) style buildings, and if land masses are added ideally at least a few designs that meet each landmass style- like if adding Sea of Clouds they might have sky pirate looking options. For the garden I'd like to see a water based (like rice, or even terrace if possible)- for the thread I believe I suggested it was a pump so instead of watering each plant you interacted with the pump a few times (could even be a bit Cuff-A-Cur like lol).
Said it before Islands, that they should have node based content, add a prefab home-y place, and overtime add in housing systems as possible... I'm hoping the entire pipe dream is happening.
If so, then one thought was to:
-(do the steps already mentioned)
-Add apartment room to the island via a door
-Upgrade the apartment system such that it is like housing (internally), make current houses able to take the apartment as a door in the house (blending the two systems officially and they are now technically one). Housing owners would have head start upgrades based on the size they had bought (though they'd not be as expensive in the future for the new system as part of the price of ward houses would be the exclusivity of a physical address).
-Keep demo for ward gardens / exterior, if you lose your ward slot you keep the internals associated to the internal system
I mean I've mentioned this stuff nearly 10 years ago but /shrug, it's all starting to line up so I hope the dream train keeps chugging lol.

Or failing that, give us the Eastern Indoor Pond as an outdoor furnishing, or make a slightly different version for outdoor. I’ve always enjoyed fishing and was disappointed it didn’t get worked into the island in some way.
