Doubt it cause most who say that are talking about the forums unless they specify reddit. But even to that point I already said what to do. Make a subreddit to "counter it" so to speak. Moderate it the exact same way. Give folks who don't want pushback against what they find wrong a place.

IIRC the "shitpost" subreddit was essentially made to counter it, then it gradually got populated by the same people so it became obsolete. It's Reddit, so it's no surprise.
